The reason was not known, and the report did not establish whether the situation continued. Apple still listed SE 3 as compatible with watchOS 27 the next day; that confirms software support, not current stock or sales status.
Why did Apple Watch SE 3 show as unavailable?
There is no confirmed explanation. On September 8, 2026, MacRumors reported that nearly all Apple Watch SE 3 configurations were listed as unavailable on Apple’s online store in the U.S. and other countries it checked. The report did not identify a reason or provide a complete list of affected countries.

A temporary store issue, depleted inventory, or preparation for a future replacement could be possibilities, but none was confirmed by Apple. The reported listing alone does not establish that Apple discontinued the watch.
Is Apple Watch SE 3 discontinued?
The available evidence does not establish that it was discontinued. Apple’s September 9, 2026 announcement listed SE 3 among the devices compatible with watchOS 27. That is evidence the model remained supported in Apple’s compatibility information, but it does not prove Apple was still selling it or that it was orderable.

When did Apple Watch SE 3 launch?
Apple announced Apple Watch SE 3 on September 9, 2025, and said it would be available in stores beginning September 19. Apple named Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, the UAE, the UK, the U.S., and more than 50 other countries and regions for launch. The announcement listed 40mm and 44mm aluminum models in midnight and starlight, with a U.S. starting price of $249 at launch. That price is historical, not a verified current price.
What should you check before buying?
Availability can differ by country, store, and configuration. The September 2026 report concerned Apple’s online store, not every retailer. Check the store for your country and the retailer you plan to use, and confirm the listing can actually be ordered for delivery or local pickup.
