Anthropic engineer Thariq Shihipar has encouraged people to use Claude Artifacts as project dashboards, especially when work needs persistent information such as a Kanban board. His comments describe an emerging workflow—not a recommendation to use Artifacts for every task or a guarantee that every dashboard capability is currently available.

Anthropic describes Artifacts as standalone content, apps, tools, and other outputs made with Claude. In a Latent Space interview, Shihipar said he was trying to encourage “this idea of a dashboard artifact.” He discussed dashboards as a way to keep persistent project data—such as the state of a Kanban board—available to Claude and the people working with it. His point is most relevant when a project’s state needs to be consulted repeatedly, rather than recreated from chat history each time. He also described the supporting infrastructure as still developing, so the envisioned dashboard workflow should not be treated as a guaranteed feature or as proof that project state will persist automatically in every setup.
When might a project dashboard Artifact help?
- Long-running work: A project with decisions, open questions, and next steps that need to remain visible across work sessions.
- A shared plan: A readable or interactive overview that people working on the same project can consult.
- Kanban-style tracking: A board whose task status needs to be kept current and available to Claude as work progresses.
These examples reflect the use case Shihipar encouraged; they are not a claim that every Artifact automatically synchronizes project data or coordinates collaborators.

How should you decide whether to use one?
Start with the workflow, not the label. A dashboard is worth considering when it solves a real information-management problem:

- Does project state need to persist? If the work is a one-off question, a separate dashboard may add unnecessary overhead. If decisions or task status must carry forward, a persistent reference may be useful.
- Does the information need interaction? Use an Artifact when an app-like or editable output is useful; a simple readable summary may be enough when the information rarely changes.
- Who needs to consult it? Consider whether one person, several collaborators, or Claude needs access to the same current view. Check sharing and access behavior in Anthropic’s help documentation rather than assuming it.
- Does your setup support the workflow? Artifact capabilities and availability can depend on current Claude plans, settings, and product changes. Confirm details in the official help article before building a process around them.
What the recommendation does—and does not—establish
Shihipar’s interview supports a focused takeaway: he wants people to explore dashboard-style Artifacts for persistent project information and human-agent planning. Anthropic’s help documentation supports the broader description of Artifacts as standalone content and tools that users can edit, reuse, or share. Neither source establishes that a dashboard Artifact is necessary for every Claude task, that it will preserve all project context automatically, or that every part of the proposed workflow is available to every user today.
