Uneven cooling is a symptom, not proof of a refrigerant problem. Start with checks you can safely make from the room; if cooling remains poor or you notice an abnormal fault or leak, consult the unit manual and arrange qualified service.
Why is my cassette AC not cooling evenly?
A ceiling cassette draws room air through an intake and sends conditioned air out through directional outlets. Restricted intake or discharge, or air aimed away from a warmer area, can contribute to uneven temperatures. So can open doors or windows and heat entering the room. The pattern alone does not identify the cause: weak airflow, air that does not feel cool, and one persistently warm part of the room are useful observations to report, not definitive diagnoses.

Manufacturer manuals list possible causes and remedies but do not establish how often each occurs. Check the manual for your exact model because filter care, controller options, and permitted louver positions vary.
What can I check safely?
1. Confirm cooling mode and the intended airflow direction
Use the remote or wired controller to confirm that the unit is set to cooling and that the setpoint is appropriate for the room. Check whether the louvers are directing air toward the area that feels warm. Do not force them by hand; use the controller and follow the model’s instructions.

Keep the cassette intake and discharge outlets clear. A Carrier QTD cassette manual warns, “Do not operate the unit with louver closed or narrow opening.” That guidance is specific to the cited manual, so follow the instructions for your own model rather than assuming every cassette has the same louver limits. 2. Inspect the filter and follow its manual
A dirty or blocked filter is one possible cause of poor cooling identified in manufacturer troubleshooting guidance. Inspect the filter only as the manual directs, then clean and reinstall it using the method specified for that unit. Cleaning methods and schedules are not universal. If a filter needs replacement, match it to the unit’s model and filter specifications rather than choosing a generic cassette filter.

Close doors and windows and consider whether direct sun or heat-producing equipment is adding to the room’s cooling load. If the room is gaining heat faster than the system can remove it, some areas may remain warmer even when the cassette is operating. These checks can help distinguish a room-load issue from a unit problem, but they do not rule out a fault.

Why is one side of my room warmer than the other?
Air may not be reaching that side effectively if an outlet is obstructed or the louvers are aimed elsewhere. Room layout and heat gain can also make one area feel warmer. Check the air path from the cassette and adjust outlet direction through the controller if your model allows it. Note where the air is weak or where the temperature difference persists; that description can help a service technician, but it cannot by itself confirm a specific defect.

Contact qualified service if the safe checks do not improve cooling, the unit shows a fault indication, or cooling remains poor. Suspected refrigerant leakage, sensor or control faults, and internal repairs are not user troubleshooting tasks. Do not open electrical compartments, handle refrigerant, or attempt internal repairs.

Abnormal water leakage also warrants attention. Some cassette manuals caution that particular louver positions can restrict performance and may contribute to condensate, but the correct operating position and response to leakage depend on the model. Consult its manual and arrange qualified service when needed. GREE’s cited owner’s manual states, “The air conditioner is not expected to be serviced by users.”

This helps explain the symptom without treating it as a diagnosis.
