MASTER DUEL is the best starting point if you want one official game across consoles, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, with cross-platform play and progression. Choose Yu-Gi-Oh! DUEL LINKS instead for a more approachable, character-focused Speed Duel experience on mobile and Steam. Neither can be promised to run forever: both are live services, and current activity is not a guarantee of future availability.
Which Yu-Gi-Oh! game works across the most platforms?
Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL has the broadest platform coverage in Konami’s official listings: PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. Konami also advertises cross-platform play and progression. To carry your progress across devices, register and link a KONAMI ID for cross-saving.

Master Duel or Duel Links: which should you start with?
| What matters to you | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Playing on the widest range of devices | Master Duel | Official listings cover consoles, Steam, Switch, iOS, and Android; cross-platform play and progression are advertised. |
| A digital game with a ruleset comparable to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG | Master Duel | Konami describes its ruleset as comparable to the TCG. That does not establish that every card or competitive rule matches the physical game. |
| Solo content and card lore | Master Duel | Its official product page lists Solo Mode, which explores card lore. |
| An approachable, anime-character-focused route | Duel Links | Konami highlights intuitive controls, familiar characters, Duel World missions, and Speed Dueling. |
| Online PvP | Either | Both games describe online play against other players; Master Duel also advertises cross-platform play. |
What Master Duel offers
A large card pool and a TCG-like ruleset
Konami describes Master Duel as having a card pool of over 10,000 cards and a ruleset comparable to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. Some cards may require participating in events or making in-game purchases. The card-pool figure is the number advertised on the official page; it is not a promise that every card is immediately available to every player.

Solo mode as well as online duels
Solo Mode gives players a way to explore card lore and play outside online matches. Master Duel is free-to-play with in-app purchases, so optional spending is part of the product model.
What Duel Links offers
A Speed Duel-oriented, character-driven experience
KONAMI Games Support lists Duel Links for Android, iOS, and Steam. Its presentation emphasizes familiar Yu-Gi-Oh! characters, intuitive controls, and a Duel World campaign with missions. Konami describes Duel Links and Speed Dueling as having similar rulesets, making it a distinct alternative to Master Duel rather than simply the same game on fewer platforms.
Rank #2
- Play others around the world in online play in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4: Battle of Great Duelists; some titles to support online play after launch
- Unlock characters, cards, & the option to remove Deck Capacity, Duelist Level, and cards from the Forbidden & Limited List; customize button mapping
- Turn back the clock with the Rewind function or fast forward to watch your strategy unfold at mach speeds
- Pick up and Duel right where you left off with the option to save at any time
- Explore preserved box art and manuals from each title in the Digital Gallery
Campaign play and online PvP
Duel Links combines its single-player Duel World content with online PvP against players around the world. It is a reasonable choice if you want a mobile-friendly, anime-led entry point and do not need the wider console coverage or cross-platform progression advertised for Master Duel.
Can you play either game forever?
No live-service game can be guaranteed to remain available indefinitely. The official Duel Links homepage listed news dated October 1, 2026, which indicates recent activity, not a commitment to keep the service running forever. The reviewed official materials do not establish a permanence guarantee for either game.

What about other Yu-Gi-Oh! games and Remote Duel?
Konami’s digital games catalog also lists releases such as Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution, Legacy of the Duelist, and Yu-Gi-Oh! EARLY DAYS COLLECTION. The catalog confirms those products exist, but the information reviewed does not establish that they offer the same persistent online service or broad cross-platform play as Master Duel and Duel Links.
Konami’s Remote Duel program is organized play hosted by Official Tournament Stores, not a separate game recommendation. For physical TCG play, the setup can use a webcam, smartphone, or tablet to show the field. Legacy of the Duelist versions are not cross-compatible, and players need the same game system.

Do you need physical cards to play online?
No. Master Duel and Duel Links are digital games; physical Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG cards and starter decks are separate products and are not required to play either online. The official catalog lists digital software separately from physical cards and accessories.
