YouTube has different controls for blocking someone’s comments, hiding a person from your own channel, reducing recommendations, and limiting what a child can watch. Choose the control that matches the problem: none is a universal switch that removes every video about a topic across YouTube.
Choose the right YouTube control

Stop a person from messaging or mentioning you
For an unwanted interaction, YouTube’s regular viewer control is called blocking a channel. On Android, open the live chat, tap the person’s message, then select Block. This is intended to stop messages and mentions, not to hide all of that channel’s videos from your account. You can manage blocked accounts through your Google Account blocklist; see YouTube’s channel-block instructions.

Hide someone from your own YouTube channel
If you manage a channel and want a viewer’s activity hidden from its audience, use Hide user in YouTube Studio. This is creator moderation, not the same as blocking a channel as a viewer. YouTube says the hidden user is not notified. Their comments, live chats, and community posts will be hidden from your channel. To make future comments visible again, remove the person from the Hidden users list. Details are in YouTube’s hide and unhide user guide.
Hide a user from a comment
- Open the comment on your channel.
- Open the menu beside it and choose Hide user from channel.
Add a user in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Settings → Community moderation → User management → Hidden users.
- Paste the person’s channel URL, then save.
See fewer videos from a channel or topic
Use recommendation feedback when you want fewer suggestions, rather than to prevent a person from contacting you. On supported Home or Watch Next surfaces, open the menu beside a recommendation and choose Don’t recommend channel to give feedback about a channel, or Not interested for an individual video. These choices tune recommendations; they do not guarantee that every video from the creator disappears from search or elsewhere on YouTube. See YouTube’s recommendation controls.

If you do not want video recommendations on Home, YouTube says you can delete and turn off your watch history. That changes the basis for Home recommendations; it is not a channel-specific block.
Block or limit content for a child
Block a channel for a supervised child account
Using the linked parent account, open the channel’s page or the YouTube app and block the channel for the supervised child account. The setting is child-specific and covers uploads from that channel only. Reuploads and similar channels can still appear. Follow YouTube’s supervised-account instructions.

Use YouTube Kids controls
In YouTube Kids, a parent can block an individual video or channel. For tighter control over discovery, choose Approved content only so the child can watch only content you approve, or turn Search off. YouTube cautions that its systems are not perfect, so a child may still encounter content a parent would not want. See YouTube Kids parental controls.
