There is no evidence-backed VPN winner for every Netherlands user. DutchTimes and TechRadar name NordVPN their overall pick, while VPNExpert selects ExpressVPN after its own Amsterdam testing. These are different editorial judgments, not an independent consensus or a guarantee of the best service for your connection. Choose by what matters most—privacy evidence, local or international speed, streaming, device support, and the full subscription cost.
How the leading VPN rankings differ
The comparisons point to different winners because they use different methods and scopes. DutchTimes says it tested more than 30 providers during March and April 2026 and names NordVPN its overall choice in a Netherlands guide. TechRadar also names NordVPN best overall in its general 2026 VPN guide. VPNExpert names ExpressVPN after reporting four weeks of testing ten subscriptions from Amsterdam in April 2026. Those conclusions should be read as each publisher’s verdict, not combined into a single ranking. DutchTimes’ Netherlands comparison, VPNExpert’s comparison, and TechRadar’s general VPN guide describe their respective choices and methods.

NordVPN: a repeated editorial pick, not a universal answer
NordVPN is the choice in both the DutchTimes Netherlands guide and TechRadar’s broader 2026 guide. That repetition may make it a sensible starting point if you want a widely recommended option, but it does not establish that it is fastest, cheapest, or best for every privacy or streaming need.

VPNExpert selected ExpressVPN after its reported four-week Amsterdam test in April 2026, which included Dutch and New York routes and Dutch streaming services. Treat this as a dated result from that publisher’s setup; it does not predict performance or access on another network or at another time.

Proton VPN: a privacy-focused editorial assessment
DutchTimes and VPNExpert describe Proton VPN as privacy-focused. That is an attributed editorial characterization, not a substitute for checking current audit scope, plan limits, privacy terms, and official subscription conditions.
Choose by the job you need the VPN to do
If privacy is the priority
Look beyond the country where a provider is headquartered. Security.org says its Netherlands assessment considered provider headquarters, legal exposure, and whether no-logs policies had independent audits. Consumentenbond likewise includes provider location and privacy conditions among its selection criteria. An audit can support confidence in the specific scope examined; it does not prove every privacy claim or cover every app, system, and future change. Read the policy and audit scope and date rather than treating a jurisdiction label as a complete privacy verdict. Security.org’s Netherlands VPN assessment explains its evaluation framework.

- 【VPN CASCADING AT EASE】Surpassing the mediocre performance of most VPN routers for home usage, the Beryl AX is capable of hosting a VPN server and VPN client at the same time within the same device, enabling users to remote access local network resources like Wi-Fi printers or local web servers, and accessing the public internet as a VPN client simultaneously.
Consumentenbond says a VPN offers privacy advantages but is not a miracle solution: “Voor je privacy biedt het voordelen, maar het is geen wondermiddel” (“For your privacy it offers benefits, but it is not a miracle solution”). Its VPN selection guidance, updated July 20, 2026, screens services for Netherlands servers, jurisdiction, privacy terms, OpenVPN support, and Windows software. A VPN does not make all online activity anonymous or replace sensible account and device security. Consumentenbond’s VPN selection guidance outlines its criteria.

If speed in the Netherlands matters
Local performance and international routing are separate questions. Security.org reports testing Netherlands-based connections and routes to the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany. VPNExpert reports distinct Amsterdam-to-Netherlands-server and Amsterdam-to-New-York results. These are publisher-run tests, not promised speeds for your provider, location, protocol, device, or time of day.

- 【AC1200 Dual-band Wireless Router】Simultaneous dual-band with wireless speed up to 300 Mbps (2.4GHz) + 867 Mbps (5GHz). 2.4GHz band can handles some simple tasks like emails or web browsing while bandwidth intensive tasks such as gaming or 4K video streaming can be handled by the 5GHz band.*Speed tests are conducted on a local network. Real-world speeds may differ depending on your network configuration.*

- 【Keep your Internet Safe】IPv6 supported. OpenVPN & WireGuard pre-installed, compatible with 30+ VPN service providers. Cloudflare encryption supported to protect the privacy.
Consumentenbond explicitly says it lacks comparative speed data because performance varies by country and time. Its selection should not be read as a fastest-provider ranking. When a comparison publishes a speed figure, check the test location, baseline connection, route, protocol, and test period before treating it as relevant to your use.
If you want to stream Dutch or foreign services
Separate two goals: watching Dutch services while abroad, and accessing foreign catalogs while physically in the Netherlands. A test of one service in one location does not establish both. Security.org and VPNExpert include streaming in their Netherlands-related methods; VPNExpert notes that streaming platforms adjust VPN detection, so compatibility can change. Treat platform results as dated test observations, not a permanent access promise. Confirm that using a VPN complies with the streaming service’s terms.

- 【AXT1800 WiFi 6 Wireless Router】Slate AX offers powerful Wi-Fi 6 network connection with a dual-band combined Wi-Fi speed of 1800 Mbps (600 Mbps for 2.4GHz and 1200 Mbps for 5GHz). Enhance Wi-Fi performance with MU-MIMO, OFDMA, BSS color and able to connect to up to 120 devices simultaneously.

- 【Repeater for Public, Hotel WiFi】Convert a public network(wired/wireless) to a private network(wired/wireless) for secure surfing. Work with Captive Portal. To deal with this situation, please reconnect your router to the wifi.)
If you need to cover several devices
Compare operating-system support, simultaneous connections, and compatibility with any router or smart TV you plan to use. For any service you consider, verify current plan limits directly with its provider rather than assuming installations and simultaneous active connections mean the same thing.
Work out the real subscription cost
A low monthly headline may represent an introductory rate for a long commitment rather than a month-to-month payment. DutchTimes’ comparison uses the lowest 24-month introductory rates available in April 2026. VPNExpert warns that two-year plans can require the full amount upfront and that many plans renew automatically at a higher regular rate. These are historical comparison figures and caveats, not verified checkout quotes for October 2026.

- Next-Gen Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Speeds: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz bands ensure smoother streaming and faster downloads; support VPN server and VPN client¹
- A More Responsive Experience: Enjoy smooth gaming, video streaming, and live feeds simultaneously. OFDMA makes your Wi-Fi stronger by allowing multiple clients to share one band at the same time, cutting latency and jitter.²
- Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage: 4 high-gain external antennas and Beamforming technology combine to extend strong, reliable, Wi-Fi throughout your home.
- Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
- Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.
Before paying, check the provider’s Netherlands checkout for the total charged now, the introductory term, renewal price and timing, VAT, refund conditions, and whether features you want are included. Neither comparison’s historical monthly figure should be treated as a current checkout price.
What a VPN can—and cannot—tell you
A VPN can route traffic through a provider’s server and help protect privacy in some situations, but it shifts trust to that provider and does not guarantee anonymity, faster internet, or lasting access to a streaming catalog. The right choice depends on your actual route and devices as well as the provider’s policy and test evidence. Compare sources on like terms: do not combine one publisher’s speed result with another’s price or present either as a result of a shared test.
