The right soundbar for a TCL TV is the one that matches your TV’s exact ports and the features you plan to use. TCL’s official pages document four models—Q85H, Q75H, Q65H and S4BH—but do not establish five products that have been independently tested against one another. This guide gives you five useful choices without presenting manufacturer specifications as test results: four model candidates and a connection-first alternative for choosing between them.

Will a soundbar work with your TCL TV?
Usually, a soundbar can connect if the TV and soundbar share a supported audio connection, but compatibility depends on the exact models and the feature you want. TCL says its soundbars can work with TVs from different brands, while connection and feature support vary by TV, model and connection type. TCL’s compatibility guidance and connection troubleshooting guide explain those qualifications.
Before buying, identify the TV’s model number and inspect its ports or manual. Look specifically for a port labeled ARC or eARC; a regular HDMI input is not necessarily an audio-return port. Then check the soundbar’s corresponding port and confirm that any desired feature—such as Dolby Atmos, passthrough or TV Ready integration—is supported by both products in your region.

Which connection should you use?
HDMI ARC or eARC
If both devices support it, TCL recommends HDMI ARC/eARC as a convenient TV connection. Connect the TV’s labeled ARC/eARC port to the soundbar’s labeled ARC/eARC port. ARC sends TV audio back to compatible audio equipment over the HDMI cable, and HDMI-CEC may allow the TV remote to control volume and mute. Optical
Optical is an alternative if the TV lacks ARC/eARC or you prefer a separate digital audio connection. Confirm that both devices have optical ports, select the matching input on the soundbar, and set the TV’s audio output accordingly. TCL lists optical among its setup options. TCL setup instructions

Bluetooth or AUX
TCL also lists Bluetooth and AUX as possible connection methods, but the available options depend on the TV and soundbar. Check both manuals before choosing either; do not assume every TCL TV or soundbar supports both. TCL’s connection guide
How to connect a soundbar to a TCL TV
- Check both devices. Find the TV model and verify which audio outputs it has. Match that port to an input listed for the soundbar.
- Connect the cable. For ARC/eARC, use the ports labeled ARC/eARC on both devices. For optical, connect the optical output and input. TCL advises using the included HDMI cable or a certified High-Speed HDMI cable for HDMI connections; check the soundbar package and manual.
- Select the soundbar input. Choose the input that corresponds to the connection you used.
- Set the TV audio output. In the TV’s sound or audio settings, choose the connected external audio output. The menu names and available settings vary by TV model.
- Enable ARC/CEC if needed. If using HDMI ARC/eARC, turn on the relevant ARC and HDMI-CEC settings when required. Enable CEC if you want to try TV-remote volume and mute control.
- Test playback and control. Play TV audio and check that sound comes from the bar. If you expect the TV remote to control volume, test that separately; audio playback can work even when CEC control is not configured.

How to choose between the models
- Start with the ports. A soundbar with features you cannot connect to or use with your TV may not be the right fit.
- Compare the documented configuration. TCL lists the Q85H as 7.1.4 and the Q75H as 5.1.2. Those figures describe channel layouts, not independently measured sound quality.
- Verify feature compatibility on both sides. Atmos, eARC, video passthrough, VRR, ALLM and TCL/Roku TV Ready are not guaranteed just because one product page mentions them. - Check the room and setup. Consider space for the soundbar and any separate components, as well as whether you want HDMI control or are comfortable using another connection.
