Yes—but only certain older Samsung watches. Samsung lists the Galaxy Watch (2018), Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Watch Active2 and Galaxy Watch3 as compatible with iPhone. Galaxy Watch4 and newer models on Samsung’s support lists—including the Watch8 series—are not supported with iOS. Check the exact model before buying: “Galaxy Watch” alone does not tell you whether it will pair.
Which Samsung watches can pair with an iPhone?
Samsung’s US compatibility page lists these models for iPhone use:

| Galaxy Watch (2018), Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Watch Active2, Galaxy Watch3 | iPhone 5 or later; iOS 9 or above | Listed as compatible |
| Gear Live, Gear S2, Gear S3, Gear Sport, Gear Fit2, Gear Fit2 Pro | iPhone 5 or later; iOS 9 or above | Listed as compatible |
| Galaxy Fit | iPhone 7 or later; iOS 10 or above | Listed as compatible |
| Galaxy Watch4/Watch4 Classic, Watch5, Watch6, Watch7, Watch Ultra, Watch FE | Not applicable | Listed as incompatible |
| Galaxy Watch8 series | Not applicable | Listed as incompatible in Samsung Canada’s support information |
Requirements in the table are Samsung’s published minimums, not a guarantee that every watch, iPhone, app version or current iOS release will work together. The US and Canadian support lists are not identical, so check Samsung support for your country and exact model. Samsung’s US compatibility list and Samsung Canada’s compatibility information are the references for those regional listings.

Why don’t Galaxy Watch4 and newer models work with iPhone?
The dividing line is the watch platform, not simply the product name. Samsung says the newer incompatible models rely on Google Play services, which iOS does not support. Samsung’s Watch8 announcement specifies Android 12 or later and says activation requires a phone that supports Google Mobile Services. That requirement rules out iPhone pairing through Samsung’s supported route; Samsung does not establish an official workaround for it. Samsung’s compatibility explanation and the Galaxy Watch8 announcement describe these requirements.

What can you expect from a compatible older watch?
Pairing is not the same as getting the full Android-phone experience. Samsung Developer documentation says companion applications that use specified phone-to-watch communication APIs are unsupported when a Galaxy Watch is connected to an iPhone. Samsung also explains that the connection uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), with less bandwidth than Android connections. That can affect apps that stream audio or video or need more bandwidth for maps. Some apps may work in standalone mode if the watch connects directly to Wi-Fi or supported cellular service. Samsung Developer’s iPhone compatibility notes explain these limitations.
Samsung’s 2017 announcement about iOS support for certain Gear devices named examples such as GPS, fitness tracking, distance, route, running pace, calories and heart rate. Those examples are historical and device-specific, not a current feature guarantee for every watch in the compatibility list. Samsung’s current health-feature information focuses on Samsung and other Android phones, and some health functions are Samsung-phone-only. It should not be read as an iPhone feature list. Samsung does not provide a complete, current feature-by-feature iPhone matrix covering every legacy watch, app version, carrier and region. Samsung’s 2017 announcement gives the historical examples.

What should you check before pairing or buying?
- Confirm the exact model. Galaxy Watch3 is on Samsung’s compatible list; Watch4 and later listed models are not.
- Check the iPhone and iOS requirements. Samsung’s stated minimum for the named older Galaxy Watch models is iPhone 5 with iOS 9 or above. Those old minimums do not guarantee compatibility with every current iOS version or app release.
- Account for older iPhones. Samsung says iPad and iPod touch are unsupported. It also warns that iPhone 6S and 6S Plus running iOS 10 and later may connect unstably.
- Decide whether the limitations fit your needs. If you depend on a particular companion app, health feature or high-bandwidth function, verify its iPhone support for that exact watch rather than assuming Android parity.
- Check condition and availability. Compatible Galaxy Watch models are legacy devices. Samsung’s compatibility listing does not establish current resale stock, a seller’s device condition or whether its apps and services will meet your needs.
Samsung’s support pages also note that capabilities can vary by market, carrier and device. See Samsung US support for its iPhone requirements and older-phone cautions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIs a Galaxy Watch3 a sensible choice for an iPhone?
Galaxy Watch3 is a specific older model Samsung names as iPhone-compatible, so it may suit someone who wants that legacy watch and accepts the app and feature limits. It is not a current-generation equivalent, and official compatibility alone does not confirm that a particular used watch is in good condition or that the services you want still work. If you need a newer Galaxy Watch, Samsung’s listed Watch4-and-later models are not an iPhone option.
