On many devices, start at Settings > Software update > Download and install; exact labels and options vary by model, software version, region and carrier.
Where do I check for a Galaxy update?
On many Galaxy phones and tablets, open Settings > Software update > Download and install to check manually. Some devices or carriers use a label such as System updates, or show an extra Check for system updates or Check for software updates step. If the wording differs, look in Settings for the software-update section; Samsung’s US update instructions and Gulf instructions for checking and scheduling updates illustrate common paths, not a universal screen.

Can I make my Galaxy download updates only on Wi-Fi?
Look for Auto download over Wi-Fi under Settings > Software update. Turning it on allows available software updates to download automatically over Wi-Fi; it is separate from scheduling when an update installs. The option may not appear on every device. Samsung describes the control in its US software-update guidance.

Samsung’s newer Gulf update guide says updates can use Wi-Fi or mobile data. For a large download, Wi-Fi can help avoid using mobile data. If your device offers an installation schedule, use it to choose a convenient time; the control may be called Schedule or Schedule install, and it is not available on every Galaxy.
How much battery and storage should I have before updating?
Before starting, use a stable connection, make sure there is enough free device storage, and charge the battery. Samsung’s published battery advice is not consistent across regions: its Gulf guide, updated September 3, 2026, says to charge to at least 20%, while its Philippines guide says the battery should be above 50%. Neither figure should be treated as a universal requirement; follow the prompt shown on your Galaxy and ensure it has adequate charge to complete the process.

How do I check my current One UI version?
Open Settings > About phone (or About tablet) > Software information. This screen shows the One UI version, Android version and build number. Note them before contacting support or following instructions, since available menus and update guidance can depend on the software currently installed. Samsung’s US support instructions describe this version-information path.
Why isn’t the One UI update showing up yet?
Samsung releases updates according to model, country or region, carrier and rollout stage. A different Galaxy may receive the same update earlier, so its availability does not establish that your own phone is misconfigured. Check again manually later, or contact Samsung or your carrier with your exact model and market. Samsung’s Canada One UI 8 page and India One UI update schedule both caution that eligibility and timing can change and depend on the model, country and network operator; schedules are market-specific, not guarantees for every Galaxy.

Do app-update settings control One UI updates?
No. One UI and Android system updates are managed in the device’s software-update settings. Play Store and Galaxy Store updates apply to apps and have their own preferences. In the Play Store, the path is Profile > Settings > Network preferences > Auto-update apps, where options include Wi-Fi-only updates.
