The strongest current foldable-phone shortlist for photography and long battery life is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and HONOR Magic V5. There is no evidence here for a single winner across all markets: compare camera samples by shooting situation, and treat battery capacity, manufacturer claims, and independent endurance tests as different kinds of evidence.
Which foldable phones should you compare?
As of October 2026, start with these three models where they are sold. Availability and configurations vary by market, so verify the exact regional version before buying.

How to judge photography beyond the specifications
Camera quality cannot be ranked from megapixels or zoom labels alone. Before choosing, look for sample photos and video from the model you can buy, ideally made in comparable conditions.

- Daylight: Check detail, color, exposure, and whether moving subjects look sharp.
- Low light: Compare noise, detail retention, motion blur, and the consistency of indoor and night shots.
- Portraits: Inspect skin tones, edge separation, and how well the camera handles hair and glasses.
- Ultrawide and telephoto: Compare framing and detail at the focal lengths you actually use. Optical reach and results at longer zoom levels matter more than a maximum zoom number alone.
- Video: Check stabilization, exposure changes, focus behavior, and sound—not just resolution.
Google’s listed 5x telephoto and HONOR’s listed periscope camera are useful specification clues, not proof that either produces better zoom photos. Likewise, the camera descriptions in Samsung’s launch material are not an independent head-to-head image-quality test.

How to compare battery life fairly
The available figures describe different things. Samsung’s 4,800 mAh and HONOR’s regional mAh numbers are capacity specifications; Google’s 24+ hours is a manufacturer advertisement; and Tom’s Guide’s Fold8 result is an independent publication’s test under a stated web-surfing-over-5G method. They do not form a standardized three-phone ranking.
Tom’s Guide reports that the Galaxy Z Fold8 lasted 12 hours 19 minutes in its web-surfing-over-5G battery test. Use that result as a point of reference for that test, not as a guarantee of a full day for every user’s workload or network.

Samsung also publishes a video-playback figure based on internal laboratory conditions. A vendor lab claim and a reviewer’s web-surfing test have different workloads, so neither should be substituted for the other. For a useful direct comparison, seek tests that use the same network, brightness, workload, and display state across all three models.

Does the Galaxy Z Fold7 still belong on the shortlist?
The Z Fold7 is prior-generation context, not the default Samsung pick for a current-best guide now that the Z Fold8 has launched. Samsung lists a 200 MP main camera, 10 MP 3x telephoto, and 4,400 mAh battery for the Fold7. Choose according to your market and priorities
- Prioritize Samsung’s current foldable: Put the Z Fold8 on your list and weigh its published test result alongside comparable testing and camera samples.
- Want the listed Pixel camera range: Consider the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, but do not read its 24+ hour advertised figure as a standardized comparison with rival phones.
- Considering HONOR: Confirm whether the international or China configuration is sold in your market and assess camera samples from the version you can purchase.
Before paying, also compare price, weight, dimensions, software support, and durability for the exact regional configuration. Those factors affect whether a foldable suits your day-to-day use, but the evidence cited here does not establish a cross-market winner on those measures.
