Samsung DeX support depends on how you want to use it. Several Galaxy tablets can run DeX on their own screens, connect to an external display over HDMI, or connect wirelessly—but those device lists are not identical. In particular, Samsung lists some Fan Edition tablets for standalone DeX while excluding them from HDMI output and wireless DeX.
Which Samsung tablets have DeX?
Samsung’s US tablet guide lists the following Galaxy tablet families by DeX mode. These are family-level lists, not a guarantee for every regional variant or software configuration. Check the exact model number and region before buying. Samsung’s US DeX guide and compatibility notes describe the supported devices and limits.

The lists above reflect Samsung’s US support material. Samsung Australia likewise warns that supported functions vary by device and its product list applies to Australian products; do not treat one country’s list as a universal SKU list. Samsung Australia’s DeX overview was updated August 7, 2026.
Does the Galaxy Tab S10 FE support HDMI out?
No, according to Samsung’s US compatibility notes: the Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Tab S10 FE+ are excluded from HDMI output and wireless DeX. Samsung does list these models as having DeX for use on the tablet screen. This is why “has DeX” is not enough to answer whether a particular tablet can drive a TV or monitor.

How the FE and Lite models differ
- Tab S9 FE and S9 FE+: Samsung excludes them from HDMI output and wireless DeX.
- Tab S10 FE and S10 FE+: Samsung lists tablet-screen DeX, but excludes them from HDMI output and wireless DeX.
- Tab S10 Lite: Samsung specifically excludes it from standalone DeX, HDMI output, and wireless DeX.
These distinctions come from Samsung’s US tablet DeX compatibility guidance. Confirm the precise model and software version rather than inferring support from a family name or the FE label.
Choose a tablet by the display you want to use
Use DeX without a monitor
Choose a model listed for standalone DeX. Samsung says standalone mode runs the desktop-like interface directly on the Galaxy tablet screen. You can open it from Quick Settings by tapping Samsung DeX. The tablet’s touchscreen or S Pen can control it; a keyboard cover or USB or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse are optional. Connect a monitor or TV with a cable
Check that the exact tablet supports wired DeX/HDMI output before purchasing a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter or cable. For a supported model, connect the tablet’s USB-C port to the display’s HDMI input. Unlock the tablet if prompted; if the display initially mirrors the tablet, select DeX. The cable or adapter must be compatible, and a USB-C connector alone does not establish that a tablet supports video output.

Confirm both wireless DeX support for the tablet and compatibility of the TV or smart monitor. On a supported tablet, open Settings → Connected devices → Samsung DeX → Connect wirelessly, select the display, and approve the connection. Samsung advises keeping the tablet and display close to reduce stuttering or lag.

What changes with Android 16 and One UI 8?
On eligible Galaxy Tabs running Android 16 with One UI 8.0 or higher, Samsung documents a newer DeX experience: apps can be opened in pop-up view from the Home screen to enter the desktop workspace, windows can be moved and resized, and users can create up to four workspaces. Availability depends on device and software eligibility. This Home-screen workflow is distinct from opening DeX through Quick Settings. Samsung’s current DeX instructions describe both routes.

A keyboard and mouse are conveniences, not prerequisites for every use. Samsung lists the touchscreen, S Pen, keyboard covers, and USB or Bluetooth keyboards and mice as ways to control DeX. Touchpad controls are available, although some gestures—such as two-finger pinch-to-zoom—are not supported.

For wired display use, select a compatible USB-C-to-HDMI cable or adapter only after verifying video-out support for the exact tablet. Samsung says DeX Pad and DeX Station are not supported on devices running Android 16 and One UI 8, so those older docks are not a suitable default for a current setup. Check these details before choosing
- Decide where DeX should appear: tablet screen, wired external display, or wireless display.
- Match the mode to the exact model: a tablet may support standalone DeX without HDMI or wireless DeX.
- Verify your region and software: Samsung’s support lists can differ by market, and some newer features require Android 16 with One UI 8.0 or higher.
- Choose input gear only if useful: touchscreen and S Pen input work for supported setups; keyboard and mouse options can make desktop-style work easier.
- For an external display, verify its connection path: confirm wired video output or wireless display compatibility before buying accessories.
