Many Samsung Galaxy S, Note, and Z phones support charging from a wireless pad, but compatibility depends on the exact model. Samsung’s US support page lists Galaxy A, XCover, and Galaxy Tab devices as not compatible with wireless charging. Which Samsung Galaxy phones can charge on a wireless pad?
Samsung’s US support page lists compatible models across the Galaxy S, Note, and Z families. Its listed S-series coverage runs from Galaxy S6 through S26; Note coverage includes Galaxy Note5 and listed Note8–Note20 models; and Z coverage includes Fold, Flip, and TriFold generations. These are family-level signposts, not a substitute for confirming your exact model.

The same US page says Galaxy A, XCover, and Galaxy Tab devices are not compatible with wireless charging. If your phone is outside the listed families, do not assume it supports a pad just because it is a Samsung device.

Regional guidance can differ. Samsung Saudi Arabia’s page, updated April 14, 2026, lists S6 through S24, Note5 through Note20 models, and Fold and Flip families through the generations listed there. Samsung Colombia’s page, updated April 8, 2026, includes S26, S25, and S24 coverage and says its information applies to products purchased in Colombia. How to check whether your exact phone supports it
- Find the full model name or model number. A family name alone, such as Galaxy S or Galaxy Z, is not precise enough to establish support.
- Open the Samsung support page for your region. Look up the exact model in the wireless-charging list or its product specifications.
- Check the charger requirements and speed for that model. Samsung says charging speed and power vary by device; support for wireless charging does not guarantee a particular wattage or fast-charging rate.
How to charge a Galaxy phone on a wireless pad
- Connect the wireless charger to a power outlet.
- Place the phone’s back near the center of the pad. Adjust its position if charging does not start.
- If you have a foldable, close it and place its back against the charger, following Samsung’s guidance.
- If charging fails or cuts out, remove a thick case and any accessory between the phone and pad, then try again.
Fast wireless charging works automatically when both the phone and charger support it. The actual speed depends on the specific devices; the broad family lists do not establish one speed for every Galaxy phone. See Samsung’s placement and charging instructions.
What to check if wireless charging does not work
- Confirm model compatibility. A Samsung phone that lacks wireless charging support will not start charging on a pad.
- Check power and alignment. Make sure the charger is plugged in and reposition the phone so its back is centered over the charging area.
- Remove possible obstructions. A thick case, cover, or accessory can interfere. Samsung also warns that third-party covers may cause compatibility problems.
- Use compatible charging equipment. If the phone still will not charge, check the charger and accessories against Samsung’s recommendations for your device.

Wireless PowerShare is a different feature
Wireless PowerShare lets a supported Galaxy phone use its battery to charge another compatible device, such as Galaxy Buds, certain watches, or another phone. It is phone-to-device power sharing—not evidence that the phone itself can charge from a wireless pad. PowerShare also has a separate supported-device list and limitations; check Samsung Gulf’s Wireless PowerShare guidance for supported devices.
Choosing a wireless charger for a Samsung phone
Search for a Qi wireless charging pad, then verify it against the exact phone rather than relying on a claim that it works with all Samsung phones. Check the phone’s supported wireless charging speed, the charger’s specifications, and whether your case or accessories affect physical contact. A compatible pad may charge a phone more slowly than its model-specific maximum if the charger does not support the same charging capability.
