Sony describes PSSR as an AI library that analyzes game images pixel by pixel as it upscales them. It is a PS5 Pro technology. Sony’s dated figure was over 50 titles as of February 27, 2026; it is not an exact current count or a game-by-game list. Sony’s February 27 announcement also identifies Resident Evil Requiem as the first title using the upgraded PSSR discussed there.

A game marked “PS5 Pro Enhanced” is not automatically a PSSR game. That label means the game has been updated to take advantage of PS5 Pro features generally; it does not specify which feature it uses. How to check whether your game supports PSSR
- Confirm the console. PSSR support described here is for PS5 Pro, not the standard PS5.
- Check the game’s official information. Search its PlayStation product page, developer feature article, or patch notes for “PSSR” or “PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution.” A specific statement is stronger evidence than a general PS5 Pro Enhanced badge.
- Install the latest game update. PSSR support, including an upgraded implementation, may arrive after launch. Assassin’s Creed Shadows, for example, had original support at launch and received upgraded PSSR in Title Update 1.1.9 on April 7, 2026.
- Check the optional image-quality setting on PS5 Pro. With system software up to date, open Settings and look for Enhance PSSR Image Quality. Sony says the setting can apply the newer PSSR to games that already support PSSR; it does not add compatibility to unsupported games. If you see unexpected visual effects, turn it off and compare. Keep PSSR separate from standard PS5 QSSR
Sony announced Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR) on October 1, 2026, as a separate AI-upscaling technology for standard PS5. Sony named Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei as the first QSSR titles, while describing PSSR as the higher-tier technology on PS5 Pro.
