Apple lists a 20W adapter or higher for its wired fast-charge result. A practical search phrase is 20W USB-C power adapter for iPhone 14 Pro Max. If considering a third-party adapter for MagSafe fast charging as well, check that it is USB-C and supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD).

Apple’s up-to-50%-in-35-minutes figure comes from testing in August 2022 with preproduction iPhone 14-family devices and Apple’s 20W USB-C Power Adapter, Model A2305. Apple cautions that charging time varies with settings and environmental factors, so treat the figure as a test result rather than a promise for every adapter or charging situation. Can you reuse an adapter you already own?
Often, yes: Apple says the included cable works with USB-C power adapters and computer ports, and it encourages reuse of current USB-A-to-Lightning cables and adapters. Keep the connection in mind: the included cable is USB-C-to-Lightning, so it needs a USB-C port. A USB-A adapter instead requires a USB-A-to-Lightning cable. Reuse can be convenient, but Apple’s cited 20W-or-higher fast-charge result applies to the specified adapter setup, not to every older adapter.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max supports MagSafe up to 15W and Qi up to 7.5W; wireless chargers are sold separately. Apple’s MagSafe guidance for iPhone 15 and earlier describes the adapter requirements for MagSafe fast charging. Apple’s fast-charge guidance covers that setup.
What should you check before buying?
- Connector: For the included cable, choose a USB-C adapter. A third-party adapter used for the cited MagSafe fast-charge setup should explicitly support USB-PD.
- Wattage: 20W or higher matches Apple’s wired fast-charge guidance. Do not assume that choosing a much higher wattage will make this phone charge faster.
- Ports: If you plan to charge multiple devices from one adapter, verify the port count and how its power is allocated when more than one port is in use; Apple’s specifications do not rank multi-port adapters.
- Travel fit: Check the plug type for the region where you will use it. Apple’s compatibility guidance does not establish which third-party model is smallest or best for travel.
Apple’s box contents list the USB-C-to-Lightning cable and documentation, but no power adapter. It states that iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max do not include a power adapter or EarPods. See the full specifications.
