All three PlayStation Plus plans—Essential, Extra, and Premium—include Monthly Games in the US. Essential is enough if you want the monthly-games benefit; you do not need to upgrade just to claim those games. To check or claim them, open the PlayStation Plus section on your console and look for Monthly Games.
Which PlayStation Plus plans include Monthly Games?
PlayStation’s US plan comparison lists Monthly Games as a benefit of all three tiers. The main difference is what else each tier adds:

How to find and claim Monthly Games
On PS5
- From the Games home screen, move right to PlayStation Plus.
- Open the Benefits tab and choose Monthly Games.
- Highlight a game and select Download.
On PS4
- From the function screen, move right to PlayStation Plus.
- Choose Monthly Games and highlight a game.
- Select Add to Library, then choose Download.
You can also start a remote download from a web browser or the PlayStation App. Sony’s support instructions describe Monthly Games as games you can download and play at no extra cost while your membership is active, with new games added each calendar month: PlayStation Plus monthly games.
#1 Best Overall
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
Monthly Games are different from the Game Catalog
Monthly Games are a recurring membership benefit available on Essential, Extra, and Premium. The Game Catalog is a separate benefit available with Extra and Premium, and Premium adds the Classics Catalog and game trials. Catalog titles can leave the service, so do not treat catalog access as the same thing as claiming a Monthly Game.
Check the title shown in your console or local PlayStation account: the current selection and eligibility can vary over time and by territory. PlayStation also notes that content and services may vary by subscriber age and location.
