Start with the settings that affect privacy and what happens when you fold the phone: review the outer lock screen and shortcuts, choose how apps transition to the external display, and check flip-to-answer and flip-to-end call behavior. Then make frequently used privacy and battery controls easy to reach. The paths below are for the Motorola Razr+ 2025; labels and availability may differ on the 2024 or 2023 models and after software updates.
1. Review what people can see on the external display
When the phone is closed, the external display can show a lock screen and app shortcuts. Decide what information and actions you want available at a glance, especially if other people might see or handle the phone.

- Open Settings > External display > Lock screen and review the lock-screen appearance. Motorola provides a blur control for the lock-screen background.
- On the external home screen, choose which app shortcuts appear. Keep only the apps you are comfortable making readily accessible while the phone is closed.

2. Decide what each app should do when you fold the phone
For each app allowed to use the cover display, select the transition behavior that matches how you expect to use it. The setting is under Settings > External display; select an app to configure its transition.

- Manual transition: You decide whether to continue using the app after folding the phone.
- Auto transition: The app moves to the external display automatically when you fold the phone.
- Don’t transition: The app does not continue on the external display.
Auto is convenient when you often continue an app after folding. Manual gives you a choice at the moment, while Don’t transition suits apps you do not want to use on the outside screen. Consider both privacy and whether you want an app to remain visible when the phone is closed. Motorola documents these options in its Razr+ 2025 external-display help.
3. Check what opening or closing the phone does during a call
Review the external-display call settings for whether opening the phone answers an incoming call and whether closing it ends an active call. Change either action if it conflicts with your habits—for example, if you might close the phone to put it away and do not want that to hang up the call.

Motorola lists these behaviors among the Razr+ 2025 external-display options. The exact menu labels can vary with software updates, so search Settings for terms such as “flip” or “call” if you do not see them where expected.
4. Choose how the Sleep display wakes
The external Sleep display can show the time, notifications, and media controls while using very little power. Review whether a tap, lifting the phone, or a nearby hand movement should wake it; enable only the wake actions that feel useful in your routine.

If you use Desk display, do not turn Sleep display off: Motorola says disabling Sleep display also disables Desk display. The wake controls and this dependency are documented in Motorola’s Razr+ 2025 external-display instructions.
5. Keep Desk display dimming on in both modes
Desk display can be used in Tent and Stand modes. Motorola’s instruction is: “To extend battery life and to lessen the risk of burning an image into the external display, keep Dim pictures & album covers on for both Tent and Stand modes.” Review the option in each mode rather than assuming a change to one applies to the other. 6. Make important controls easy to reach
Quick settings are available from both the open phone and the external display. Arrange or review the controls you use most, and make sure you can quickly find:

7. Enable only the gestures you will actually use
Motorola lets you enable or disable gestures individually. Consider these optional shortcuts, then leave off the ones you are unlikely to remember or that you could trigger by accident:
- Twist the phone twice to launch the camera.
- Chop twice to toggle the flashlight.
- Touch the screen with three fingers to take a screenshot.
- Tap the back of the phone to launch a selected shortcut.
- Place the phone face-down to turn on Do Not Disturb.

8. Set the power-button shortcut without losing the power menu
Depending on the model and software, the power button’s double-press and press-and-hold actions can be configured for shortcuts such as the camera, assistant or Moto AI, or the power menu. Pick actions that fit your routine, but check how you will reach shutdown and restart before replacing the press-and-hold power-menu action. On the documented Razr+ 2025 build, Motorola says to press Power + Volume up to open the power menu when another long-press action is selected. The settings above address privacy, folding behavior, display care, and shortcuts. Motorola’s published Razr+ 2025 hardware specifications—including its battery capacity and charging support—do not establish that a particular setting will produce a specific battery-life improvement. Treat Battery saver and display options as controls for your own use, not guaranteed fixes or performance promises.
