Vivaldi says its Ad blocker is off by default, but its iOS help page does not explicitly say which blocking level a fresh iPhone installation selects. To see what your app is doing, open Vivaldi menu > Settings > Ad and Tracker Blocker > Default Blocking Level. The setting may still block some ads if it is set to Block Trackers.
What the three blocking levels do
Vivaldi’s iOS settings offer three global levels. Tracker blocking and full ad blocking are not the same thing: Vivaldi says tracker blocking can also stop many ads, while the ad-blocking level adds another layer for ads that tracker blocking does not catch. Vivaldi’s iOS help page describes the choices; its general Ad Blocker page says the Ad blocker is off by default.

How to change the setting on iPhone
- Open the Vivaldi menu and tap Settings.
- Tap Ad and Tracker Blocker.
- Tap Default Blocking Level, then choose No Blocking, Block Trackers, or Block Trackers and Ads.
How to change blocking for one website
To use a different level on the page currently open, tap the content-blocker shield beside the address field and choose a blocking level for that site. Vivaldi also provides an exceptions list in Settings for managing sites where you want a different blocking choice. The global default and a site-specific setting are separate controls, so check the shield on the page if its behavior differs from the general setting. Vivaldi’s instructions for iOS cover the per-site control, exceptions, and blocking sources.
If a page stops working properly
Some site features may rely on elements the Tracker and/or Ad blocker blocks. Vivaldi’s troubleshooting guidance is to test the page with blocking disabled using the address-bar control. If the page then works, adjust the blocking level for that site rather than changing the global setting for every site. Vivaldi’s iOS help page also explains selectable blocking sources.

What the latest Snapshot note does—and does not—confirm
Vivaldi’s September 30, 2026 announcement for iOS Snapshot 4175.4 describes an updated ad-blocker interface and backend refactoring. Snapshot is a preview app installed separately from Final and has its own preferences and settings; that announcement does not establish a change to the stable app’s default or confirm that stable uses the revised interface. The official iOS help page does not name a stable-app version or explicitly identify the fresh-install selection, so the level displayed on your device is the practical way to verify it. Vivaldi recommends blocking trackers broadly and enabling ad blocking on sites where ads are intrusive or distracting, noting that advertising supports many websites. That is the browser maker’s recommendation, not an independent assessment.
