Bloodcurse is the strongest general boss-damage pick in the consulted ranking; choose Stasis instead when slowing a boss to create safer openings matters more than maximizing burst. The ranking is an editorial guide, not a controlled damage test. Its infusion list was updated August 31, 2026; check your game’s patch state and make sure the listed weapons and stones are compatible before building around it.

How the infusions rank for bosses and builds

The table follows the August 31, 2026 infusion guide’s tiers. “Best use” describes the combat problem each effect is presented as solving, not a guarantee that it will outperform every alternative on every boss. Stack counts are not directly comparable across effects: their application and payoff differ.

Tier Infusion Cited pairing Best fit
S Bloodcurse Axe and Dagger + Duality Stone General boss burst; quick attacks build applications toward a health-removing burst.
S Stasis Axatana + Torpor Stone; Genessa synergy Control and longer, safer openings; some encounters resist or ignore it.
A Lightning Axatana + Voltaic Crown; Proxima synergy Groups and area pressure, with useful single-target damage.
A Frost Great Martyr’s Blade + Eredrim Control and follow-up damage when its more specific application route suits the build.
B Curse Accursed Stone + Sariel A specialist crowd setup; Sariel’s duration and shared-damage abilities increase its potential.
B Phantom Salvaged Trebuchaxe + Monarch’s Vestige Delayed splash and stagger at range; charging can leave you exposed.
C Burn Veteran’s Battle Axe + Inflamed Clawstone Exploration against weaker enemies; limited general boss pressure.
C Poison Tiel + Serpent Stone A specialist Tiel setup that turns stacks into active burst; weak passive damage elsewhere.
D Trauma Hammer + Wretchcaller’s Stone A slow Break Damage route with limited application options.

Why Bloodcurse leads for general boss damage

Bloodcurse is the clearest all-purpose boss-damage recommendation in this ranking because its payoff is a burst after applications. A fast weapon can build those applications more reliably during limited attack openings than a slower weapon. The guide pairs it with Axe and Dagger and Duality Stone, and also identifies Clockwork Scythe as a specialist multi-hit option.

This is a recommendation about the shape of the combat loop, not a measured claim that Bloodcurse removes more health than every other infusion in every fight. The consulted sources do not provide reproducible, boss-by-boss damage tests or comparative damage figures.

#1 Best Overall
Mortal Shell II - PlayStation 5
  • THEIR FLESH IS YOUR WEAPON: The corpses of exceptional warriors are scattered throughout Mortal Shell 2’s destroyed world. Once discovered, each warrior can be possessed, awakening their innate strengths and mastered abilities. Evolve your own style of combat by harnessing the unique abilities of each warrior and unlock their secrets through the discovery of lost memories.
  • CLEANSE A RAVAGED WORLD: Mortal Shell 2’s compact open world connects over winding footpaths guarded by desperate and fanatical adversaries. Players who wander are rewarded with new warriors to possess, additional story elements, powerful and strange weaponry, upgrades, curiosities and more. Step through derelict temples of ancient deities, across forbidden forests and icy graves, into citadels carved out of bone. Scattered between these lost landmarks are more than 60 dungeons, each providing a challenging test of the talents and weaponry you have collected on your journey.
  • DETHRONE FALSE GODS: You control the Harbinger, a being that must reclaim the Undermether’s stolen eggs that are now ruthlessly guarded by grotesque, dangerous creatures. Mortal Shell 2’s combat system is agile and expressive. Stamina gauges are removed, and execution options have been enhanced, delivering a kinetic and chaotic dark power fantasy. Precision meets intensity in high-stakes combat.

When Stasis is the better choice

Pick Stasis when the main obstacle is finding safe time to dodge, reposition, or punish rather than dealing the largest possible burst. Slowing an enemy can make those openings easier to use; the ranking’s cited setup is Axatana with Torpor Stone, with Genessa as a synergy.

The guide notes that a few encounters resist or ignore Stasis, but does not identify them. Treat its usefulness as matchup-dependent rather than assuming it controls every boss. The same ranking does not establish named resistance or immunity cases for the other effects.

Choose by the fight, not just by tier

One boss and a priority on health-bar damage

Start with Bloodcurse and a fast application route. The Axe and Dagger plus Duality Stone pairing is the guide’s general recommendation; Clockwork Scythe is its specialist multi-hit alternative. Fast or multi-hit patterns can build some effects more quickly, while a slow weapon may spend too much of a short opening developing stacks.

A hard-to-read boss or short punish windows

Try Stasis if slowing the target helps you create time to dodge and attack. Its control can be more useful than a nominally higher damage ceiling when you are not consistently able to exploit openings. Do not treat that as a universal answer: the guide says some encounters resist or ignore the effect.

Groups and exploration

Lightning is the stronger listed area-pressure option: its cited use includes chained pressure against groups as well as useful single-target damage. The guide places Burn lower, describing it as more suited to weaker ordinary enemies than to general boss pressure.

A build centered on a particular Shell

Frost may make sense with Eredrim, Curse with Sariel, and Poison with Tiel, even though none is the ranking’s top general boss recommendation. Their value depends on the full interaction: for example, Sariel’s duration and shared-damage abilities raise Curse’s ceiling, while the Tiel Poison setup relies on actively turning stacks into burst rather than depending on passive damage.

Build the status effect into a repeatable combat loop

A build is more than selecting the highest-ranked infusion. Treat it as a repeatable plan built around a Shell, primary weapon, sidearm, seal, items, compatible Tarstones, and an investment order. The September 8, 2026 build guide describes its combinations as scenario packages, not universal DPS proofs.

  1. Name the problem. Decide whether you need boss burst, safer openings, group pressure, or a Shell-specific interaction.
  2. Choose the application route. Match the effect to a weapon’s hit pattern and the openings you can reliably use. A multi-hit or fast option can build some effects quickly; a slow route may be difficult to complete before a boss punishes you.
  3. Check the whole setup. Confirm that the Shell, weapon, sidearm, seal, items, and Tarstones support the same plan. Use the cited pairings as starting points, not proof that an item works in every configuration.
  4. Practice the loop against the intended problem. Under the same difficulty settings, check whether you can apply the status safely and convert its payoff into damage or control. A build that looks strong on paper may not suit your timing or matchup.

Check patch compatibility before investing

Patch context can change the value or operation of a setup. The weapon reference, checked September 3, 2026, labels its information as Week 1 Update and a community report; it notes balance changes affecting heavy weapons, Hammer, Great Martyr’s Blade, Trebuchaxe, and Axatana. Those changes touch several weapons in the cited pairings, so confirm the version you are playing before committing resources.

A September update thread also reports that status effects can apply while an enemy recovers from a riposte. The consulted patch page is a community repost, not an official patch-note page; verify the live official notes for the current rule before relying on that timing.

What “most and least effective status effect” really depends on

Player discussions phrase the question as “Most and Least Effective Status Effect?” That is useful shorthand, but a single universal winner obscures the role of weapon speed, Shell synergy, boss openings, and the effect’s payoff. In the consulted ranking, Bloodcurse is the general damage answer and Stasis the control alternative; specialist setups can shift what is effective for an individual build.

The official Mortal Shell II website describes combat as unrestricted by stamina, allowing players to use multiple tactics to break enemy posture and strike critically. That supports thinking about infusions as parts of a combat approach, but it does not establish which one deals the most damage. No controlled, reproducible boss-by-boss comparison is available in the cited material.
