For quick play on a keyring, consider a dedicated keychain gamer; for tinkering, look at a tiny programmable console; and for a desk display, choose a tabletop arcade cabinet. These eight devices cover very different kinds of retro-gaming fun—and they are not all equally available. Check current stock and regional ordering before buying, especially for announced or limited-edition hardware.

Keychain gamers for short sessions
Thumby: the tiny handheld with a game library
TinyCircuits’ Thumby is a keychain accessory with six tactile buttons. TinyCircuits says it comes with five preloaded retro games and offers more through its game library. That combination makes it the clearest pick here for someone who wants a very small device with more than one named game already included. The game count and button description are manufacturer statements, not independent test results.

Centipede Super Micro Keychain Gamer: a named Atari trio
Atari’s Centipede Super Micro Keychain Gamer is built around licensed classics: Centipede, Millipede, and Crystal Castles. It suits a fan who wants a compact dedicated device centered on those titles, rather than a general-purpose handheld. The product description does not establish display quality, battery life, controls beyond its keychain-gamer format, or current stock.
Asteroids Super Micro Keychain Gamer: another focused collection
Hyper Mega Tech!’s Asteroids Super Micro Keychain Gamer lists Asteroids, Gravitar, and Yars’ Revenge. Like the Centipede device, it is a licensed-content miniature, not evidence of a broader platform library. The available description does not support a performance comparison with other keychain gamers.

Pocket-sized devices for play and tinkering
Game Bird: a pocket console with a development angle
Game Bird is described by its maker as a keychain-sized retro console with a detachable keychain. Its distinguishing idea is that it is presented as a mini game studio as well as a play device, making it the most explicitly creation-oriented option in this group. The official site also lists accessories including a manual, USB hub, HDMI adapter, and charger cable. Those are maker-listed details; check the site for current ordering and exactly what is included with a particular purchase.
FunKey S: a foldable retro handheld
The FunKey Project’s FunKey S takes a different approach: a foldable, keychain-sized handheld that the project says supports several historical platforms. This form factor may appeal to someone who wants a small device that folds away between sessions. The platform list is a project claim; it does not mean game files are bundled or that every platform has been independently tested for performance.

Desk-scale and collector hardware
EGRET II mini: a tabletop arcade cabinet
TAITO’s EGRET II mini is a cabinet-style tabletop system, not a pocket gadget. TAITO describes it as a way to play games spanning 1978 through the 1990s. Its product page lists Arcade Collection Part 1 with a December 18, 2025 release date and Part 2 as planned for March 25, 2027. Because release schedules and availability can vary by region and change, confirm the current details with TAITO before ordering.
Vectrex Mini: announced hardware with a built-in display
Vectrex’s Mini details page describes a system based on ESP32 with a built-in 5-inch display. The maker said it expected availability toward the end of 2026. - For a keychain-sized quick-play device: compare Thumby with the Centipede and Asteroids gamers. Thumby is described with a broader game-library angle, while the other two list specific licensed titles.
- For a tiny console with a creation angle: Game Bird is the entry whose maker explicitly presents it as a mini game studio as well as a gaming device.
- For a foldable form: the FunKey S is the device in this roundup described as a foldable, keychain-sized handheld.
- For a desk centerpiece: EGRET II mini is the tabletop arcade-cabinet option; it is not meant to be carried like a keychain gamer.
- For announced or collector hardware: check Vectrex Mini’s forecast against actual availability, and treat the AYANEO preorder statement as specific to May 21, 2026.
These products are described mainly through official maker or project pages.
