A low-cost 4G LTE security camera can work well at a gate, cabin, farm, trailer or job site without dependable Wi-Fi—but only if the camera supports the cellular network at its mounting point and you budget for data. The cheapest camera is not necessarily the least expensive to keep running: compare the device, solar equipment, storage and recurring service, then estimate how often you will use live view.
When a 4G LTE camera is the right choice
These cameras use a cellular connection instead of local Wi-Fi to send alerts and provide remote access. That makes them a practical option where running a network cable or maintaining a Wi-Fi connection is difficult. Cellular does not eliminate connectivity costs: the camera still needs a compatible SIM and an active data plan, unless the manufacturer’s stated starter allowance temporarily covers use.

Before choosing a model, check that the carrier has usable coverage at the exact installation location and that the camera supports its LTE bands. A phone showing a signal nearby is a useful clue, not proof that a particular camera will connect reliably.
Compare the costs that determine value
Use the full installed and ongoing cost, not the camera’s headline price. Local prices, availability and cellular plans vary, so verify them for your region before buying.
#1 Best Overall
- 【No WiFi & No Electrical Power Needed】If you need an outdoor security camera for a place with no Wi-Fi or wired power, the 4G LTE solar security camera is a wise choice! This cellular security wireless camera can work anywhere with 4G LTE coverage. No need to worry about Wi-Fi or power at locations such as barns, farms, ranches, construction sites, vacation homes, warehouses, and RVs (The 4G camera doesn't support Wi-Fi connection).
- 【Built-in SIM & Compatible with Major U.S. Carriers】Includes an EIOTCLUB 4G LTE SIM card (U.S. only; compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon) with a 7-day unlimited trial. Only the built-in SIM supports operation; after the trial, a subscription must be made ($19.9/month–$169.9/year) to continue cellular service. Please ensure the installation site has 4G coverage. | Reolink Go Plus | Fixed-view 2K camera using 3G/4G LTE, with battery and solar power options. Reolink’s US listing says a SIM and 100 MB of initial data are included; a plan is needed afterward. A 2026 third-party comparison estimates the camera at around $120, an approximate figure that may not match current checkout price, shipping or promotions. Reolink product information; SecurityCamLab comparison | Confirm current local price, whether the solar panel is included or sold separately, supported LTE bands, and current SIM and data-plan terms. |
| TP-Link Tapo TC90G KIT | TP-Link’s Australian product page describes a 2K 3MP solar-powered pan/tilt 4G camera with a SIM slot, app data monitoring and microSD support up to 512 GB. TP-Link estimates one hour of 2K live viewing at about 337 MB without cloud storage or 515 MB with cloud storage; these are model-specific estimates, not a general rate for LTE cameras. TP-Link Australia product information | The SIM and microSD card are not included. Check local LTE-band compatibility, plan costs and local model specifications; this product page is for Australia. |
| EZVIZ CB3 4G Kit | EZVIZ’s EU page describes a 2K, 4G-only camera supplied with a 5W solar panel. It supports local recording to a separately purchased card; cloud service is available only in certain markets. EZVIZ EU product information | It does not connect to Wi-Fi. Verify LTE bands, local storage requirements and whether cloud service is offered in your market; the cited page is EU-specific. |
Calculate cellular use before choosing a plan
Alerts and occasional checks may use less data than frequent live viewing or cloud uploads, but actual consumption depends on the camera, settings and use. TP-Link’s TC90G estimate illustrates how the configuration matters: its stated hourly 2K live-view use rises from about 337 MB without cloud storage to 515 MB with cloud storage. Do not apply those figures to other models.
Estimate how many minutes or hours you expect to view remotely, whether the camera uploads clips to a cloud service, and how the provider meters data. Then compare those expectations with the plan’s allowance and overage terms. A starter allowance, such as the 100 MB stated for Reolink’s US listing, is not a substitute for checking ongoing service costs.

Include power and storage in the total
Battery and solar options reduce the need to run power wiring, but they do not guarantee maintenance-free operation. Shading, weather and camera activity affect whether a solar setup can keep up. Confirm whether a compatible panel is bundled or costs extra, and consider the site’s sun exposure.

Local microSD recording can avoid a camera cloud-storage plan on models that support it, but remote access still needs cellular data. Check the card’s capacity limit and whether it is included: TP-Link supports up to 512 GB but does not include a card, and EZVIZ says its local card is separate. Cloud features and availability differ by model and market.

Easily share cellular camera access with family members through the app, allowing remote property monitoring anytime, anywhere, even when abroad. (TF Card not included)
Choose by coverage, view and installation
- Network: Confirm carrier coverage and LTE-band compatibility at the actual mounting point. Check whether a SIM is included or must be supplied, and review activation and plan requirements.
- View: A fixed-view camera may suit a gate or a single approach; pan/tilt can help cover a broader area. Resolution alone does not guarantee that a person or object will be identifiable at a given distance.
- Power: Decide whether battery charging is practical or whether the location gets enough sunlight for solar. Verify compatibility and whether the panel is included.
- Recording: Compare local-card support, card capacity, cloud options and any features that require a subscription or additional cellular use.
- Installed cost: Add the camera, panel if needed, mount, storage card, cellular plan and optional cloud fees. Recheck current local pricing and availability.
Practical shortlist
For a fixed view and a low initial outlay, the Reolink Go Plus is a candidate to price-check, not a guaranteed bargain: the around-$120 estimate is a 2026 third-party approximation, and its starter data allowance is limited. If a pan/tilt view and in-app data monitoring matter, compare the TP-Link Tapo TC90G KIT while accounting for its separately supplied SIM and card and checking that the Australian-listed model suits your region. If a bundled solar panel is useful, the EU-listed EZVIZ CB3 4G Kit is another option, subject to local 4G, storage and cloud availability.
None is a universal cheapest choice. The right low-cost camera is the one that works on the local carrier, fits the site’s power and viewing needs, and has a data and storage setup whose recurring costs you can accept.
