Choose by phone ecosystem first: AirTag (2nd generation) is for compatible iPhones and iPads, Galaxy SmartTag2 is for Galaxy phones and tablets, and Google Pixel Tag is Google’s announced Android option, listed by the U.S. Google Store as coming in November 2026. Precision finding also depends on your phone’s hardware, operating system and regional availability—not just the tag.
Quick comparison: Pixel Tag vs AirTag vs Galaxy SmartTag2
| Tracker | Phone and setup | Nearby and precision finding | Battery and durability | Finding network and availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apple AirTag (2nd generation) | Apple Account; iPhone with iOS 26.2.1 or later, or iPad with iPadOS 26.1 or later. | Bluetooth proximity finding and second-generation UWB. Apple says improved Precision Finding works with iPhone Air or iPhone 15 and later, except iPhone 16e; availability varies by region. | Replaceable CR2032 coin cell; IP67 laboratory rating. The cited specifications do not state a battery-life estimate. | Uses Apple’s Find My network; introduced in 2026. The cited Apple technical page is from Apple Support Malaysia, so check local availability and regional details. |
| Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 | Galaxy phone or tablet running Android 9 or later; Samsung Account and registration in SmartThings Find required. | Bluetooth Low Energy 5.3 and UWB. Compass View requires a UWB-enabled Galaxy smartphone running Android 11 or later. Samsung states BLE range up to 120 m with no obstacles. | Replaceable CR2032. Samsung Canada lists up to 500 days; Samsung’s 2023 U.S. launch announcement stated up to 500 days in Normal Mode and up to 700 days in Power Saving Mode. IP67 rating, with Samsung’s freshwater and use cautions. | Uses SmartThings Find/Galaxy Find Network. Out-of-range finding depends on opted-in Galaxy users being in range. |
| Google Pixel Tag | Google lists Android 9 or later compatibility. | Bluetooth Channel Sounding requires a compatible phone with Android 16 or later and Bluetooth 6.0. UWB precision finding requires a compatible UWB Android phone. | Replaceable CR2032; Google estimates over one year based on pre-production-unit testing and specified everyday use. Actual battery life may be lower. IP67 rating. | Uses Google Find Hub and its Android device network. The U.S. Google Store lists it as coming in November 2026. Google announced U.S. launch prices of $29 for one or $99 for a four-pack. |
IP67 describes a controlled laboratory rating—up to 1 m of water for up to 30 minutes—not a guarantee that a tag remains waterproof after wear or damage. Resistance can diminish over time. Samsung specifies freshwater conditions and advises against beach, pool or soapy water; do not assume the three tags have identical water-use limits.

Which tracker works with your phone?
Choose AirTag for an iPhone or iPad
AirTag is the straightforward option if your everyday devices are compatible iPhones or iPads and you want Apple’s Find My integration. Check the operating-system minimums in the table. If improved Precision Finding is important, verify that your particular iPhone is supported and that the feature is available in your region.

Choose SmartTag2 for a Galaxy household
SmartTag2 is designed for Galaxy phones and tablets using Samsung’s SmartThings Find. Its tag button can also control SmartThings functions. Compass View is not a general Android feature: it requires a UWB-capable Galaxy phone running Android 11 or later.

Consider Pixel Tag if you use another Android phone
Google positions Pixel Tag as an Android-compatible tracker using Find Hub. The U.S. Google Store lists availability as coming in November 2026, so it is an announced option rather than a currently available choice through that Store page. Before choosing it for precision features, check whether your exact phone supports UWB or Bluetooth Channel Sounding at the required Android version.
What precision finding actually depends on
All three trackers offer a way to locate an item nearby, but the advanced directions or precision features are not interchangeable. AirTag uses UWB for Precision Finding; SmartTag2’s Compass View needs both UWB and a qualifying Galaxy phone; Pixel Tag’s Channel Sounding and UWB features have their own phone and software requirements. A compatible tag cannot add missing radio hardware or operating-system support to a phone.

- Easy Find & Family Sharing with Apple Find My: Quickly pair the FineTrack tag with your iPhone or iPad in just one tap. Using the pre-installed Find My app, add the Air Tracker tag to the Items tab to instantly locate and track your keys, wallet, and other valuables. With iOS 17 or later, you can also share your tracker’s location with family members, so everyone can help keep items safe. (Note: Compatible with iOS devices only, not for Android.)
- Smart Tracking Made Easy: Whether Bluetooth Air Tracker Tag is nearby or far away, locate it easily with the Find My app. When within Bluetooth range, play a sound to quickly find the item tracker tag; when out of range, the Apple Find My network uses its vast ecosystem of Apple devices to provide the item finder’s latest location. Enjoy global tracking with Apple’s Find My network without any subscription fees.
- Lost Item Alerts & Lost Mode: When your Air Tracker Tag moves out of range, the Apple Find My app sends an instant lost alert with the last known location. If your item is confirmed lost, you can activate Lost Mode and leave your contact information so nearby Apple devices can remotely access it and help locate your tracker, making recovery quick and easy.
- 2-Year Battery Life & Child-Safe Certified: The UGREEN 4-pack Bluetooth tracker tags feature a replaceable battery that lasts up to 2 years, outperforming standard 1-year trackers. You can check the tracker’s battery anytime in the app and replace it when needed, keeping your valuables always protected. Item finder tags are also UL4200A certified, preventing children from accidentally swallowing the battery.
- Your Privacy, Fully Protected: Certified by Apple MFi, this Bluetooth Air Tracker Tag uses end-to-end encryption to keep your location data private and secure. All communications are anonymous and encrypted, and no location data is stored on the device. Even if your item is lost, your information remains protected and cannot be accessed without your permission — not by Apple, the manufacturer, or any third party.
Bluetooth range figures are not a reliable way to predict where a lost item can be found. Samsung’s stated up-to-120-m BLE range applies under conditions without obstacles. When a tag is out of the owner’s Bluetooth range, finding depends on the relevant network of other devices rather than that direct connection distance.

AirTag uses Apple Find My, SmartTag2 relies on SmartThings Find and the Galaxy Find Network, and Pixel Tag uses Google Find Hub’s Android device network. These are separate crowdsourced systems. Google says its Find Hub network comprises more than one billion Android devices; that is Google’s network-scale claim, not an independent measure of how many devices will be near your item in a particular place.

The manufacturers’ official materials describe how their networks work, but do not provide a like-for-like field test of location accuracy, success rates or network density by city, airport, country or rural area. There is no supported measured winner here. For a tracker that will travel often, consider where you and the item actually go; network size claims alone cannot establish local coverage.
Battery life, sharing and practical ownership
Battery estimates are not directly comparable
Each tracker uses a replaceable CR2032 coin cell. Apple’s cited specifications give no battery-life estimate. Samsung’s Canada product page lists up to 500 days, while its 2023 U.S. launch announcement gave up to 500 days in Normal Mode and up to 700 days in Power Saving Mode; Samsung says actual life varies with usage, phone model and battery manufacturer. Google’s over-one-year estimate is based on pre-production units and specified everyday average use that included sound and Precision Finding, and actual life may be lower. These are manufacturer estimates under different conditions, not results from a shared independent test.

Trigger an 80-100 decibel alert from the built-in speaker via Google Find Hub or Apple's Find My app—ideal for locating items in cluttered spaces like sofa crevices or drawers. Even if the item is out of sight, a single button press activates the smart tracker tag's alert.
- Simple Setup: This tracker for android or iOS pairs effortlessly with Android or iOS devices in seconds, automatically adapting to your chosen platform (connects to only one platform at a time).
Check sharing before buying for shared items
Google says a Pixel Tag can be shared with up to 10 people. The cited Apple and Samsung specifications do not provide a comparable sharing limit, so the available information does not support a direct ranking. If several household members need access to a key or bag’s location, check the sharing setup in the relevant app before choosing.
Account for the object and attachment
Think about how the tag will attach to the keys, bag or luggage you plan to track. The official information summarized here does not establish that a particular holder or accessory fits all three models; verify compatibility with the exact tag before buying an add-on.
