For several classic campaigns in one purchase, start with Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Choose Halo: Campaign Evolved for a rebuilt take on the original campaign, or Halo Infinite if you want an open-world campaign alongside free-to-play multiplayer. The right choice also depends on your platform and which Game Pass tier currently includes the game.

What comes with each edition of Halo: Campaign Evolved?
Xbox lists Standard and Premium editions. The Premium Edition includes the game plus digital extras; these are not physical collectibles.

The Premium additions are cosmetic and digital bonus materials rather than a different campaign. Xbox’s store listing gives July 28, 2026 as the release date and lists Xbox Series X|S and PC. Check the current store page for regional availability and the edition comparison.
How to decide before you buy
- Pick your campaign. For multiple classic entries, compare the current MCC product page and its store listing. For a remake of the original campaign, see Campaign Evolved. For an open-world campaign, consider Halo Infinite.
- Match the game to your device. Check the supported platform on the local store page; the listings differ, especially for cloud play.
- Check subscription coverage. Confirm the title appears in your region’s Game Pass catalog and that your tier covers the access you want. For Campaign Evolved, Xbox currently specifies Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
- Separate campaign access from multiplayer. Infinite’s multiplayer is free-to-play, but Xbox says console online multiplayer requires a Game Pass subscription. Campaign and cloud-play purchase terms are separate questions.
- Compare editions only where they differ. Campaign Evolved Premium adds listed digital extras; confirm the current MCC bundle contents and any separately listed add-ons before checkout.
Which Halo game should you buy?
Choose The Master Chief Collection if your priority is a set of classic campaigns in one collection. Choose Campaign Evolved if you specifically want the remade original campaign, and select Premium only if its digital extras appeal to you. Choose Halo Infinite for its open-world campaign or free multiplayer. Consider Halo 5: Guardians if its console or cloud listing suits your setup. Verify the local store and subscription terms before paying, since availability and entitlements can vary.
