For Android, five Google Play listings offer different live-wallpaper scenes and controls. These are six options supported by the available store listings—not ten independently verified picks—and none was hands-on tested for this roundup. Choose by phone platform and whether you want a still image or animation, then check the listing for current compatibility, price, ads, age rating, and in-app purchases.
How to choose a Halloween wallpaper app
Start with the phone you use. An app listed for iPhone is not automatically an Android option, and Android live wallpapers do not work on iPhone through the same system. Next, decide whether you want a simple seasonal image or motion, such as drifting ghosts, bats, or lightning. The apps differ in customization and setup, so a more elaborate animated scene is not necessarily the best fit.

- For iPhone: Check that the listing supports your iPhone and iOS version. The cross-platform app described below says its iOS process uses a Live Photo saved to Photos; that is a different workflow from setting an Android live wallpaper.
- For Android: Check whether the app offers static images as well as live scenes. Android’s live-wallpaper option applies to the Home Screen in the described listing; still images may offer additional placement choices, depending on the phone.
- Before installing: Read the current store page for compatibility, ads, in-app purchases, content rating, and update history. An older update date is a reason to check carefully, not proof that an app cannot work. A recent update is not a guarantee for every device either.
Six Halloween wallpaper apps in the shortlist
The table separates platform and content so you can narrow the options before considering customization or monetization. Features below are descriptions from developer-provided Apple App Store or Google Play listings, not independent test results.
| App | Platform indicated by listing | What it offers | Listing details to weigh |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wallpapers:Halloween Wallpaper | iPhone (Apple App Store) | Animated Live Photos, seasonal collections, tag search, recommendations, favorites, and download history. | Free with in-app purchases; some features require Premium. The listing displayed 4.5/5 from 1.3K ratings when accessed in 2026. This is a changing store snapshot, not an independent quality measure. |
| Halloween Live Wallpapers 4K (Bada Labs) | Android listing; listing also describes an iOS Live Photo workflow | Static and live wallpapers, video previews, search, bookmarks, saving, and sharing. | The developer says Android live wallpapers apply to the Home Screen and describes converting a Live Photo in Photos for its iOS flow. Google Play showed an update date of Sep 26, 2026. |
| Halloween Live Wallpaper (Wasabi) | Android (Google Play) | Five themes and a frame-rate setting. | Listing discloses ads and in-app purchases. Google Play showed more than 1 million downloads when accessed in 2026 and an update date of Oct 10, 2025. Downloads are marketplace metadata, not evidence of quality. The developer says lowering FPS can save battery; that is a developer tip, not an independently measured result. |
| Halloween Ghost Live Wallpaper (Wasabi) | Android (Google Play) | Floating-ghost live wallpaper installed through Android’s live-wallpaper settings. | Marked Mature 17+ and supported by ads. The listing showed an update date of Sep 13, 2024. Its age rating makes it a poor default for a family-friendly recommendation. |
| Halloween Live Wallpaper (BlackBird Wallpapers) | Android (Google Play) | Two backgrounds, nine sky options, animated witches and ghosts, meteor effects, fireflies, and adjustable flickering lights. | Listing discloses ads and says the app sleeps while the phone is inactive. It showed an update date of Dec 6, 2023; older device examples in its description should not be treated as current compatibility guarantees. |
| Horror Night Live Wallpaper (Xllusion) | Android (Google Play) | Five background themes, custom horror-face imagery, lightning, bat settings, and parallax. The listing says it supports most resolutions, including Android tablets. | The listing warns that older devices may not run it and showed an Android 14 compatibility update dated Jul 28, 2024. Verify support for your device rather than treating that note as a guarantee. |

The listing’s iOS instructions describe using a Live Photo saved through Photos; they do not make Android’s live-wallpaper mechanism available on iPhone.
Controls for animated scenes
Wasabi’s Halloween Live Wallpaper lists five themes and an FPS setting. BlackBird’s app lists multiple sky and background choices, effects, and flicker controls. Horror Night Live Wallpaper lists theme, bat, and parallax settings. These are distinct kinds of customization; compare the descriptions with the scene you actually want, and check each listing for its current monetization details.

Ghosts, age rating, and family use

- Open the app, choose a scene, and use any preview or customization controls it provides.
- Follow the app’s installation prompt or open Android’s live-wallpaper settings and select the chosen scene. The Halloween Ghost listing specifically describes installation through live-wallpaper settings; exact menu names and placement choices vary by device.

- For the iOS flow described by Halloween Live Wallpapers 4K, save or convert the Live Photo through Photos as directed by the app.

What store ratings and update dates can—and cannot—tell you
The Apple rating and Google Play download count reported above are snapshots from the listings when accessed in 2026. They can change and do not establish image quality, privacy practices, current device compatibility, or whether you will like the animation. Likewise, an update date is useful context but cannot guarantee that a particular app works on every current phone. Check the live store page and the app’s permissions before installing.
