Best free third-party Android camera: Open Camera
Open Camera is a candidate for Android users who want to explore controls beyond a basic point-and-shoot experience. When a paid app is not a free pick

The listing describes a seven-day trial followed by an annual membership or an outright one-time purchase. That makes it a paid upgrade with a trial, not a free camera app. Availability, pricing, and trial terms can vary by region and change over time.

- You just want to take photos: Use the built-in Camera app on iPhone, or try the camera app already on your Android phone before adding another one.
- You want more capture controls on Android: Try Open Camera, keeping in mind that actual controls depend on your phone.
- You want to edit as well as shoot: Lightroom provides both capture and editing, with Premium boundaries for some workflows.
- You mainly need editing: Consider an editor such as Snapseed only after confirming its current listing and availability for your device.
- You need RAW, manual controls, or sync: Check that the exact app and your phone support the feature, and distinguish a free tier from a trial or paid plan.
Camera apps and editors do not have to be the same app. You can take a picture with the built-in camera and edit it elsewhere; choose based on the part of the process you actually want to improve.
