There is no universal “best” refillable Epson ink for JetPro transfers. The right choice depends on your exact Epson printer, the JetPro paper SKU, and the instructions supplied with that paper. In particular, JET-PRO SoftStretch is inkjet heat-transfer paper; it is not the same workflow as Epson dye-sublimation printing.
Start with the printer and the exact JetPro paper
Before buying ink or loading a printer, identify both products by their full model or SKU. “Epson refillable ink” can mean ink for a tank-based inkjet printer, while some Epson printers use cartridges and others are built for dye sublimation. “JetPro” also covers transfer media with product-specific instructions.

- Find the full Epson printer model. Check its label or the printer’s manual, then confirm whether it uses refill tanks or cartridges and which inks Epson specifies.
- Identify the JetPro product and SKU. Use the package label, not just the JetPro name. Read the current instructions supplied for that exact product.
- Match the two sets of instructions. Confirm that the paper is intended for your kind of printer and that its instructions do not conflict with the printer maker’s ink requirements.
- Check the intended material and application method. Confirm fabric color and composition, and follow the package’s current transfer settings for temperature, time, pressure, and peel.
If either product is unidentified, a specific ink recommendation is not reliable.
How the main Epson ink systems differ

What is known about ink for JET-PRO SoftStretch?
JET-PRO SoftStretch is described as inkjet heat-transfer paper for light fabrics. The available supplier instructions do not agree on ink type: one recommends pigment ink and says dye-based ink is incompatible, while another says either pigment or dye ink can be used. Those claims are specific to the respective listings; they do not establish one rule for every SoftStretch product, revision, or seller.

Use the instructions printed for the exact package you have, and confirm them against the printer maker’s guidance for your model. If the package does not name your printer or clarify the ink question, ask the paper supplier before printing. Do not pour a different formulation into a printer to test compatibility.
One supplier describes JET-PRO SS as intended for transferring images printed on inkjet printers to light-colored T-shirts, sweatshirts, mouse pads, coasters, puzzles, and leather goods. Do not confuse inkjet transfers with dye sublimation
These are different printing processes, even though both can involve printing an image and applying heat. Epson describes sublimation as printing onto dye-sublimation transfer paper and then heating the image onto a suitable blank. Sublimation drinkware needs a polyester coating; for textiles, Epson recommends white or light fabrics for optimal results, and a higher polyester content supports better color results. Follow the package for pressing and peeling
Transfer settings vary across JET-PRO listings and methods. For example, ColDesi’s JET-PRO SS commercial-press instructions specify mirroring the image, placing the image side against the garment, and using 375°F for 30 seconds with medium-to-heavy pressure, followed by a hot peel. Other listings give different press ranges or home-iron guidance. These are not universal settings: use the directions for your exact media SKU and account for the garment’s heat tolerance.

- Check whether the image must be mirrored before printing.
- Confirm which side of the transfer goes against the garment.
- Use only the time, temperature, and pressure stated for your package and application method.
- Follow the specified peel timing rather than assuming every transfer is hot- or cold-peeled.
Which option should you choose?
- You have an EcoTank: identify its exact model and use the ink Epson specifies for it. Then verify that the exact JetPro package supports that printer and ink type; the tank design alone is not proof of transfer compatibility.
- You have a SureColor F-series sublimation printer: use the Epson UltraChrome DS ink required for that family and media that the current printer documentation supports. Do not substitute generic refillable ink or assume SoftStretch is sublimation paper.
- You have a cartridge-based Epson printer: follow the model’s cartridge requirements. The WF-2960, for example, is designed for genuine Epson cartridges, not a refill-tank workflow.
- Your JetPro package gives conflicting or unclear ink directions: pause and confirm with the supplier using the full SKU and your printer model before printing.
