The best DeWalt set depends on the work you do and the batteries you already own. For a broad starter group, compare the five-tool DCK540D1 with the seven-tool DCK751P1; for drilling and fastening, consider the brushless DCK227D2 or the XR hammer-drill/impact-driver DCK2101QQ1WW1. The ten-tool DCK1020D2 adds jobsite-support tools as well as core tools. These are comparisons of listed contents, not independent performance rankings: confirm the exact SKU and live bundle before buying.
Which DeWalt set suits your work?
There is no single winner for every professional builder or serious DIYer. A kit is useful when its specific tools match your tasks; a higher tool count does not automatically mean better value if several tools will sit unused. The audiences below are practical fits inferred from the listed contents, not recommendations verified by DeWalt or independent testing.

DCK540D1: a five-tool core set
The DCK540D1 listing includes a drill/driver, impact driver, circular saw, reciprocating saw, and oscillating multi-tool, plus one 2.0Ah battery and a charger. The DCK751P1 adds a jigsaw and random-orbit sander to a broad tool set covering drilling, fastening, cutting, and oscillating work. Its page lists a 5Ah battery and charger. Consider it if you expect to use those additional tools; otherwise, paying for a broader bundle may not make sense. See DeWalt’s DCK751P1 product listing.

DCK227D2: a focused brushless drill-and-impact pair
The DCK227D2 pairs a brushless drill/driver with an impact driver and includes two 2.0Ah batteries and a charger, according to its product page. This focused configuration may suit buyers who mainly drill and fasten or already own saws and other tools. See DeWalt’s DCK227D2 product listing.
DCK2101QQ1WW1: an XR hammer-drill and impact-driver option
The DCK2101QQ1WW1 listing describes an XR hammer drill and a three-speed impact driver, with 4Ah and 8Ah XR POWERPACK batteries and a charger. Choose a hammer-drill configuration only if its drilling function suits your tasks; the listed pair is more focused than a multi-tool bundle. The product page currently displays “No Warranty,” an unusual listing that should be checked directly for the exact model and sales region before purchase. Check DeWalt’s DCK2101QQ1WW1 listing.

These are the configurations described on the linked DeWalt pages; retailer bundles and availability can change. The listings do not establish comparative runtime in your conditions, long-term reliability, or which kit is the best value. Check whether your current batteries are compatible with the exact tools and whether the bundle includes storage or other accessories you need.

What does 20V MAX mean?
DeWalt says 20V MAX refers to maximum initial voltage measured without workload; the nominal voltage is 18V. The label alone does not tell you how long a battery will run a tool. Battery capacity, the tool, material, workload, and working conditions all matter, and these product listings do not provide a common runtime comparison. Read DeWalt’s 20V MAX platform explanation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How should you compare manufacturer performance claims?
Manufacturer specifications can describe a tool, but they are not independent head-to-head test results. For example, DeWalt lists the DCD1007 hammer drill’s maximum brake torque as 2,100 in-lbs and says the test was conducted under controlled laboratory conditions. Treat that figure as a qualified manufacturer claim, not a promise of results for every user, material, or task. The page also includes other claims with footnoted test setups; consult those qualifications before drawing comparisons. See DeWalt’s DCD1007 specifications and qualifications.

What to verify before ordering
- Exact SKU: Match the model number on the product page to the seller’s listing; similar-looking kit names can have different contents.
- Included tools: Confirm the individual tool models and whether the listed bundle covers the work you actually do.
- Batteries and charger: Check battery quantity, capacity, and charger inclusion, then account for batteries and chargers you already own.
- Hammer-drill requirement: Verify that the configuration includes a hammer drill if you need that function; a regular drill/driver is a different tool.
- Storage and warranty: Confirm what storage is included and check warranty terms for the exact model and region. Do not assume one kit’s warranty listing applies to another.
- Current bundle: Compare the live manufacturer and seller listings at purchase time, since stock and bundle contents may vary.
