To make a Lenovo Yoga last longer between charges, start with Windows power efficiency, shorter screen and sleep timeouts, and a check of which apps are using the battery. Lower brightness and disconnect peripherals you do not need. If those changes do not help, check battery condition before considering a replacement. These steps can improve runtime, but the amount depends on the Yoga model, Windows version, screen, workload, and battery condition.
Runtime per charge and long-term battery health are different goals: a setting that preserves battery health may leave less charge available for your next unplugged session.

Choose a power mode that fits your work
In Windows 11, open Settings > System > Power & battery and select Best power efficiency when longer runtime matters more than peak performance. Microsoft says this mode reduces power use by limiting background activity; demanding tasks may run less quickly. Labels and options can vary by Windows version and device. Microsoft explains Windows power modes.
Some Yoga models also offer operating modes in Lenovo Vantage or through Fn + Q. Recent Yoga guides describe power-saving, balanced or automatic, and performance-oriented modes, but availability and names vary. Use a power-saving option for lighter work on battery; switch to a performance mode when the task needs it. Lenovo’s Yoga 7i guide and Yoga 9i guide describe model-specific controls.

Reduce power use while the Yoga is idle
Open Settings > System > Power & battery > Screen, sleep, & hibernation timeouts. Set shorter screen-off and sleep times for battery use, while choosing separate, more convenient values for when the laptop is plugged in. A shorter timeout reduces the time the display or system remains active when you step away. Avoid setting the battery timeout so long that it effectively prevents power saving. The exact path or labels can differ across Windows builds and Yoga models. Lenovo’s Yoga 7i guide gives this advice for its supported model.
Find apps and activity draining the battery
Go to Settings > System > Power & battery > Battery usage. Review app consumption for the selected period and look for applications using more power than expected. An app’s percentage is useful for spotting where energy went, but it does not by itself prove that the app is malfunctioning; usage depends on what you were doing and which apps were active.
For apps that do not need to sync or run when you are not using them, limit background activity where Windows and the app allow it. Disable unnecessary startup apps if you do not need them to launch automatically. Avoid turning off services or background access that you rely on for notifications, syncing, accessibility, or other essential functions. Lenovo’s battery-life guidance covers identifying app use and reducing avoidable activity.

Use Battery saver for longer sessions
Windows Battery saver can limit background activity and other power-consuming behavior. In Windows 11, find it under Settings > System > Power & battery; options include setting when it turns on automatically. Windows 10 uses different settings labels and paths. Battery saver may delay background syncing or notifications, so choose an activation threshold that fits how you use the laptop. It can help stretch a charge, but it does not repair a worn battery. Lenovo’s instructions describe battery-saving settings, including automatic activation.
Make small changes to display and accessories
- Lower screen brightness to a comfortable level, especially when working indoors.
- Disconnect USB devices and other peripherals you are not using.
- Turn Bluetooth off when you do not need a connected device.
- Avoid operating or charging the Yoga in very hot or very cold conditions.
These are practical ways to reduce avoidable power use or protect battery performance, but the available guidance does not quantify a universal runtime gain for any one change. The result depends on the specific Yoga and workload. Lenovo’s battery guidance and Lenovo’s general laptop battery guidance cover these habits.
Use Conservation mode for battery health, not extra runtime
If your Yoga stays plugged in most of the time, Lenovo Vantage may offer a Conservation mode that keeps the battery from charging to full. Lenovo’s guides for the 2026 Yoga 7i 2-in-1 Aura Edition and Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition describe a 75%–80% charge range on supported models. That limit is intended to support long-term battery health; it also leaves less stored charge for the next unplugged session. It is therefore not the right choice when you need the longest possible single-session runtime.

If your Yoga still runs down too quickly after settings checks, inspect its battery information rather than guessing at a replacement. Lenovo Vantage may provide battery details for your model. Windows can also create a battery history report:
- Open Command Prompt, PowerShell, or Windows Terminal.
- Run
powercfg /batteryreport. - Open the HTML file at the location Windows reports and review the battery history and capacity information.
Lenovo also documents powercfg -ENERGY for generating an energy report that may identify issues preventing the computer from sleeping. Treat both reports as diagnostic information, not as a standalone verdict: interpret them alongside actual runtime and your needs. Lenovo’s battery Q&A and guidance.
Consider replacement if the battery’s condition is poor and runtime remains insufficient for your use. The replacement must match the exact Yoga model or machine type; the product family name alone is not enough to specify a part. Lenovo advises considering a new Lenovo battery when runtime is no longer sufficient. Contact Lenovo support or a qualified repair provider to confirm compatibility for your device.
