Tesla owner manuals document two ways to connect a game controller: Bluetooth Classic and USB. Bluetooth Classic is the clearest option across Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck, but Tesla does not publish a tested brand or model list. Whether a controller works also depends on the game, the vehicle’s USB ports, and the vehicle’s configuration.
Which controller connections does Tesla document?
Bluetooth Classic
Tesla’s current owner manuals for Cybertruck, Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y describe pairing Bluetooth Classic gaming controllers through the same flow used for pairing a phone. Once paired, the controller connects automatically and can be used in select games.

When shopping or checking a controller you already own, look for Bluetooth Classic support. The manuals do not identify specific tested brands or models, so Tesla’s documentation does not confirm any particular console controller by name.

Tesla manuals also describe USB-compatible controllers, but a USB plug alone does not establish that a particular port can send controller data. Port location and capability depend on the vehicle and its manufacture date. Check the manual for your exact model and vehicle before relying on a USB connection.

How to connect a controller
Pair over Bluetooth
- Put the controller into its Bluetooth pairing mode, following the controller’s own instructions.
- In the vehicle, use the Bluetooth device-pairing flow used to pair a phone and select the controller when it appears.
- After pairing, try it in the game you want to play. Tesla specifies support for select games, not every Arcade title.
Tesla does not provide a brand-specific pairing sequence in the cited manual passages, so button combinations and controller menus depend on the controller.
Connect over USB
- Open the owner manual for your vehicle and check its Arcade/controller instructions and USB port information.
- Use a port the manual identifies as suitable for USB-compatible controllers. Do not assume a center-console port carries data.
- Connect the controller and check whether the game recognizes it.
For several models, Tesla distinguishes vehicles made before and after approximately November 1, 2021; later vehicles may need the glovebox USB port. The Model Y manual separately notes that on some vehicles made after approximately that date, center-console USB ports can only charge devices. These are vehicle-specific qualifications, not a universal port rule.

How many Bluetooth devices can connect?
The cited manuals state that covered vehicles support up to two Bluetooth devices at a time, with examples including two controllers or one phone and one controller. This is the vehicle’s concurrent Bluetooth-device limit; it does not mean every game accepts two controllers. Check the game and your vehicle’s current manual for the relevant details.

The manuals cover Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck, but entertainment options can vary by market, manufacture date, and vehicle configuration. A documented connection method does not guarantee that every Arcade game supports a controller, or that every controller works with every game. Confirm the instructions for your vehicle and test the controller in the intended game.

For Cybertruck, Tesla says to use Arcade and Toybox features only while parked. Follow the instructions and safety conditions in the manual for your own vehicle.
