There is no single best-value cloud subscription for everyone. In the US, iCloud+ is straightforward for Apple households, Google One is useful when storage is shared across Drive, Gmail and Photos, and Microsoft 365 Family stands out when several people will use its included apps as well as OneDrive. The best choice depends on your local price, how storage is allocated, what counts against it and which extras you would actually use.
How to compare cloud subscriptions fairly
Start with the plan you would really buy, not the largest storage number in an advertisement. Compare the total cost where you live, the amount each person can use, the services drawing from that storage, and any included features your household would otherwise pay for.

- Price: Check local currency, billing period, taxes and any promotion on the provider’s current plan or checkout page.
- Capacity: Determine whether the plan gives the household a shared pool or each person a separate allocation.
- Storage scope: Identify which files and services consume the quota; a plan is more useful when it covers the accounts and apps you already use.
- Sharing: Confirm how many people can join and whether the allocation is pooled or individual.
- Bundle value: Count included apps or benefits only if you would use them. An unused bundle is not a saving.

Which service is best for your situation?
Choose iCloud+ if your household is centered on Apple
iCloud+ offers a range of listed US monthly capacities and lets you share a plan with up to five other family members at no extra cost. It is a natural candidate if the household already relies on Apple accounts and wants a simple tier choice. Its price advantage cannot be assumed outside the US, and its listed storage amount alone does not establish how it compares with another provider for every person’s needs.
Choose Google One if Drive, Gmail and Photos all matter
Google One storage covers Drive, Gmail and Google Photos, so the relevant question is how much space those services collectively use—not just how many files you keep in Drive. Google says Basic and higher plans can be shared with up to five others. If your account is still within Google’s included allowance of up to 15GB, you may not need a paid plan yet.

Choose Microsoft 365 Family if the apps are part of the purchase
Microsoft 365 Family gives each of up to six people a separate 1TB OneDrive allocation. That per-person setup avoids one household member consuming a shared storage pool at everyone else’s expense. Its value also depends on whether family members will use the included Microsoft 365 features; if they will not, compare it on storage and price rather than treating the bundle as an automatic saving.

- List the people and accounts. Note who needs storage and which accounts they already use.
- Check actual usage. Look at the current storage used in each relevant account, including email and photo libraries where applicable.
- Decide whether storage should be pooled. A shared pool can be convenient, while individual allocations provide a clear amount per person.
- Compare local plan totals. Check each provider’s current price, billing term, taxes and promotion in your country.
- Value only useful extras. Include Microsoft apps or other plan benefits only if someone in the household would otherwise use or pay for them.
- Pick the smallest suitable plan. Avoid paying for capacity or bundle features you do not expect to use.
