Which Chrysler Pacifica Trim Holds Its Value Best? What the 2026 Data Shows

Current evidence does not establish one Chrysler Pacifica trim as the resale-value winner. Here is how gas, hybrid, appraisal and purchase-price differences change the answer.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

No Chrysler Pacifica trim can be identified as the universal resale-value winner from the available evidence. iSeeCars shows identical five-year depreciation rates in several gas-trim pairings and a separate tie between two hybrid trims. Edmunds lists current dollar appraisals by configuration, but those figures do not show which trim retains the largest percentage of its original price.

The practical answer depends on model year, gas or plug-in-hybrid powertrain, front- or all-wheel drive, mileage, condition, options, location, transaction type and the price you paid.

The short answer: there is no proven all-trim winner

Public estimates do not establish that Touring, Touring L, Limited or Pinnacle consistently holds value better than the others. The strongest like-for-like evidence reviewed comes from iSeeCars’ displayed five-year depreciation comparisons. Touring and Touring L are both shown at 54.7% depreciation; Touring L and Limited are also both shown at 54.7%; and Limited and Pinnacle are both shown at 54.7%.

Those are selected paired comparisons, not a complete ranking of every Pacifica model year, drivetrain, option package or market. They show that a simple hierarchy such as “Pinnacle always resells best” is not supported. The same caution applies to the Pacifica Hybrid: iSeeCars reports 55.2% five-year depreciation for Hybrid Touring L and Hybrid Limited, but that result should not be blended with gas-powered trims.

A higher-trim Pacifica can command more money in dollars because it cost more when new. That does not mean it retained a larger share of its original price. To answer the question for a specific van, compare the same model year, powertrain, drivetrain, mileage band, condition, history and valuation type.

What the model-wide depreciation data says

iSeeCars’ model-level estimate covers the Chrysler Pacifica as a nameplate rather than a particular trim. It analyzed more than 15 million vehicles and estimates depreciation from the difference between new and used prices at each age. Its Pacifica page, accessed in 2026, reports the following:

Age of vehicle Estimated depreciation What the figure represents
Three years 37.8% Model-wide estimate, not a trim result
Five years 50.8% Model-wide estimate; iSeeCars lists a $20,429 residual value
Seven years 61.9% Model-wide estimate
Ten years 69.3% Model-wide estimate

The five-year number means the estimated Pacifica loses 50.8% of its new-vehicle value under iSeeCars’ methodology. It is not an official Chrysler projection and cannot tell you whether one trim beats another under identical conditions.

Why the model baseline is still useful

The 50.8% figure provides a reference point for judging an individual appraisal. If your vehicle’s calculated loss is materially lower, it may be benefiting from unusually low mileage, strong local demand, a large purchase discount or excellent condition. If the loss is higher, mileage, accident history, configuration, market supply or an unfavorable purchase price may explain the difference.

What the gas-trim comparisons show

iSeeCars’ selected gas-trim pages display ties in their five-year depreciation rates:

Compared trims Displayed five-year depreciation Interpretation
Touring versus Touring L 54.7% for each No winner in this displayed paired estimate
Touring L versus Limited 54.7% for each No winner in this displayed paired estimate
Limited versus Pinnacle 54.7% for each No winner in this displayed paired estimate

These ties are evidence against declaring one gas trim the resale champion, but they are not proof that every Pacifica ever sold depreciates identically. The pages do not create a same-year, same-mileage, same-condition, same-drivetrain table for the entire lineup. A particular local market can still price two trims differently.

How to read a tied depreciation rate

A tied percentage means the displayed estimate does not separate the two trims at the precision shown. It does not mean their used prices are equal. If the trims had different original prices, equal percentage depreciation would produce different dollar losses and different resale dollars. It also does not account for the discount each buyer received when purchasing new.

Keep hybrid results separate from gas results

iSeeCars reports 55.2% five-year depreciation for the Pacifica Hybrid Touring L and Hybrid Limited. That is a comparison within the hybrid group. Plug-in-hybrid demand, battery-related perceptions, incentives, fuel prices and availability can differ from the gas market, so a 55.2% hybrid estimate should not be ranked directly against the 54.7% gas-trim comparisons as though they were tested under one controlled sample.

When comparing a hybrid with a gas Pacifica, use the same powertrain category first, then match model year, mileage, condition, drivetrain and transaction type. A hybrid’s higher or lower resale percentage may reflect powertrain-market conditions rather than trim equipment.

Why current appraisals do not identify the best-retaining trim

Edmunds’ 2025 Chrysler Pacifica appraisal page presents trade-in, private-party and dealer-retail estimates by trim and drivetrain. Its clean-condition examples include:

Configuration Trade-in estimate Private-party estimate
Gas Select FWD $27,500 $29,449
Gas Pinnacle FWD $38,170 $39,837
Gas Pinnacle AWD $42,071 $43,124

These are point-in-time estimates displayed for the 2025 model-year page, under Edmunds’ assumptions. They are useful for estimating what a specific configuration might sell or trade for, but they are not percentages of original MSRP and do not form a complete lifetime ranking. The Pinnacle figures are higher in dollars partly because a Pinnacle cost more when new and because AWD is a different configuration; the table alone cannot show which vehicle retained more of its purchase price.

Edmunds identifies age, mileage, condition, trim and installed options as value factors. It also separates trade-in, private-party and dealer-retail values. Those are different transactions: a dealer trade-in normally reflects wholesale economics, a private-party sale reflects a direct buyer, and dealer-retail pricing includes the seller’s reconditioning and operating costs.

Dollar value and percentage retention are different questions

Use two calculations instead of treating an appraisal dollar as a resale score:

  1. Dollar depreciation: original transaction price minus today’s comparable value.
  2. Percentage retained: today’s comparable value divided by the original transaction price, multiplied by 100.

For a fair trim comparison, decide whether “original price” means MSRP or the amount actually paid. KBB’s resale-award methodology uses residual value as a percentage of MSRP, while a household deciding whether a purchase was financially wise may reasonably use its negotiated transaction price. A heavily discounted higher trim can retain more of the buyer’s money than a lower trim purchased at full price, even if both have similar market depreciation.

Do not mix a trade-in value for one vehicle with a private-party value for another. Select one transaction type, one valuation date and one condition description before calculating.

How to estimate your own Pacifica’s retention

The following process produces a more meaningful answer than relying on a trim name alone.

  1. Record the exact identity. Write down model year, gas or hybrid powertrain, FWD or AWD, trim, factory packages and major installed options.
  2. Document the vehicle state. Record odometer reading, accident or title history, service records, tire condition and any cosmetic or mechanical defects. Use the same condition category when comparing listings or appraisals.
  3. Choose one transaction. Decide whether you are planning a trade-in, private-party sale or dealer-retail comparison. Do not combine those values.
  4. Collect like-for-like estimates. Use the same ZIP code or market, valuation date and mileage assumptions for each trim you compare. Edmunds’ appraisal tool can provide separate estimates by trim and drivetrain.
  5. Capture the purchase baseline. Save the original MSRP and, separately, the actual amount paid after discounts, incentives, taxes and fees. State which baseline you use in your calculation.
  6. Calculate and compare. Divide the current comparable value by the selected original-price baseline. Keep the result separate from the dollar amount because a more expensive trim can produce a larger resale check without retaining a larger percentage.
  7. Check real listings. Compare several vehicles with the same year, drivetrain, mileage range and condition. Asking prices are not completed-sale prices, so treat them as market context rather than proof.

Variables that can change the result

  • Model year: A redesign, equipment change or age difference can outweigh the trim distinction.
  • Powertrain: Gas and plug-in-hybrid Pacificas follow different demand and supply patterns.
  • Drivetrain: FWD and AWD buyers may command different prices in snow-belt or mild-weather markets.
  • Mileage: A low-mileage Touring can outperform a high-mileage Pinnacle in a particular transaction.
  • Condition and history: Accidents, flood damage, title branding, neglected maintenance and worn interiors reduce value regardless of badge.
  • Options and color: Factory packages and broadly acceptable specifications can help or hurt demand locally, but their original cost is not always recovered.
  • Purchase discount: A rebate or dealer discount changes the buyer’s actual return even when market depreciation is unchanged.
  • Market and timing: Inventory, fuel prices, interest rates, seasonal demand and regional preferences move used prices.
  • Valuation channel: Trade-in, private-party and dealer-retail numbers answer different questions.
  • Holding period: A trim that looks competitive at five years may not lead at three, seven or ten years.

How Kelley Blue Book’s projections fit in

Kelley Blue Book’s 2026 resale-award release explains that its analysts review statistical models built on millions of transactions and use five-year residuals as a percentage of MSRP. The release defines its award residual assumption as a vehicle in average condition with 75,000 miles at the end of a five-year lease or ownership period. Kelley Blue Book also says the average 2026 model-year vehicle is expected to retain about 45% of its original value after five years.

That 45% figure is industry-wide context, not a Pacifica trim estimate. Likewise, Kelley Blue Book lists a $35,449 five-year depreciation estimate and a $22,641 residual value for a 2026 Pacifica Pinnacle. Those figures are a trim-specific cost-to-own estimate for that model year, and they should not be compared with another trim unless model year, configuration and assumptions match.

Residual projections are estimates, not guaranteed used-car prices. Actual results can differ because the van may have a different mileage, condition, history, equipment mix, location or selling channel.

What each gas trim comparison can—and cannot—tell you

Touring versus Touring L

The displayed iSeeCars estimate gives both trims 54.7% five-year depreciation. It does not establish a winner for every model year or show how a purchase discount affects the buyer’s return. Compare identical year, drivetrain, mileage and condition before applying the result to a specific van.

Touring L versus Limited

This pair is also displayed at 54.7% five-year depreciation for each trim. The tie means the source does not separate them at the shown rate; it does not mean a local buyer will receive the same offer for both.

Limited versus Pinnacle

Both are shown at 54.7% five-year depreciation. A Pinnacle may still have a higher resale price in dollars because its starting price is higher. Only a percentage calculation using the same baseline can answer whether it retained more of the original investment.

What a fair trim comparison should include

Before declaring one trim a better resale bet, build a comparison sheet with one row per vehicle. Include model year, engine or plug-in-hybrid designation, FWD or AWD, trim, factory packages, MSRP, actual purchase price, purchase date, current mileage, condition grade, title and accident history, ZIP code, valuation date and sale channel. Leaving out even one of these fields can make a comparison look more precise than it is.

For example, an AWD Pinnacle appraisal cannot be treated as a direct test of a FWD Select simply because both are 2025 Pacificas. The AWD equipment, higher trim content, original price and likely buyer pool all differ. Likewise, a clean, low-mileage van with complete records is not a fair match for one with a collision history or deferred maintenance. The more closely the records match, the more useful the percentage comparison becomes.

Use ranges, not false precision

Online appraisals are estimates that change with market conditions. Instead of treating one quote as an exact future check, collect multiple same-channel estimates and note the range. If a Touring L and Limited overlap substantially after matching year, mileage, condition and drivetrain, the practical difference may be too small to justify paying substantially more for one trim solely for resale.

Also distinguish an asking price from a completed transaction. A dealer’s advertised retail price includes preparation and overhead, while a trade-in quote reflects what the dealer can pay and still resell profitably. A private-party price may fall between those figures but requires the owner to handle advertising, inspection, paperwork and buyer negotiations.

Common mistakes when choosing for resale

  • Picking the most expensive trim automatically: A higher appraisal is not the same as a higher retention rate.
  • Calling one tied comparison a universal ranking: The iSeeCars pairs are selected estimates, not a complete lineup study.
  • Combining gas and hybrid figures: Different powertrains have different markets.
  • Comparing unlike transactions: A trade-in quote is not equivalent to a private-party sale price.
  • Ignoring the purchase price: MSRP-based retention and return on the amount actually paid can lead to different conclusions.
  • Using today’s appraisal as a five-year guarantee: Appraisal values move with date, mileage, condition and market supply.
  • Overlooking history and maintenance: Trim cannot erase a branded title, major accident or deferred service.
  • Counting every option as an investment: Factory equipment can make a van easier to sell, but its original cost may not be recovered in the used market.
  • Comparing different valuation dates: A quote from one season or interest-rate environment may not be comparable with a quote obtained months later.

A practical buying decision

If resale is your priority, first choose the powertrain and drivetrain that fit the market where you will sell. Then compare the trims you can buy at realistic transaction prices, not just their MSRPs. Use a same-condition appraisal for each configuration and calculate both dollar depreciation and percentage retained. Finally, apply a mileage and ownership plan: keeping annual mileage moderate, preserving service records and avoiding title or accident damage generally gives you more control over the outcome than selecting a particular badge.

Based on the available estimates, there is no evidence-based reason to pay extra for a Pinnacle solely because you expect it to retain the best percentage. There is also no basis for assuming Touring will always be the safest resale choice. The defensible approach is configuration-specific comparison at the time you buy and again when you sell.

Bottom line

The Chrysler Pacifica trim that holds its value best cannot be named universally from current public data. iSeeCars shows 54.7% five-year depreciation for each trim in three selected gas comparisons and 55.2% for both Hybrid Touring L and Hybrid Limited. Edmunds’ dollar appraisals demonstrate why higher trims can be worth more without retaining a greater percentage. Compare the exact year, powertrain, drivetrain, mileage, condition, options, market, purchase price and selling channel before deciding which Pacifica is the better value for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Chrysler Pacifica trim has the best resale value?

Current public estimates do not establish a universal winner. iSeeCars displays the same 54.7% five-year depreciation for Touring versus Touring L, Touring L versus Limited, and Limited versus Pinnacle. Those are selected comparisons, not a complete all-year, all-drivetrain ranking.

Does the Pacifica Pinnacle hold value better than Touring L?

The available evidence does not prove that it does. The Pinnacle may bring a higher resale dollar amount because it cost more new, but a higher dollar value is not the same as retaining a higher percentage of the original price. Compare matched model year, drivetrain, mileage, condition and purchase price.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How does the Pacifica Hybrid compare with gas trims?

Keep the groups separate. iSeeCars reports 55.2% five-year depreciation for Hybrid Touring L and Hybrid Limited. Hybrid demand, incentives, fuel prices and battery perceptions can differ from the gas market, so the hybrid figure should not be ranked directly against the 54.7% gas-trim figures.

What is the Chrysler Pacifica’s average five-year depreciation?

iSeeCars’ model-wide estimate is 50.8% after five years, with a listed residual value of $20,429. It also reports 37.8% depreciation after three years, 61.9% after seven years and 69.3% after ten years. These are nameplate estimates, not results for a specific trim.

Why is an Edmunds Pinnacle appraisal higher than a Select appraisal?

The Pinnacle is a higher-priced configuration, and the examples also differ by drivetrain. Edmunds lists clean-condition 2025 estimates of $38,170 trade-in and $39,837 private-party for a gas Pinnacle FWD, versus $27,500 and $29,449 for a gas Select FWD. Those dollar figures do not reveal percentage retention without the original price and matching assumptions.

Should I calculate depreciation from MSRP or what I paid?

Use MSRP when you want to mirror a residual methodology such as Kelley Blue Book’s award calculations. Use the actual transaction price when measuring your personal financial return. Report both when possible, because a negotiated discount can make a higher trim retain more of your money even if market depreciation percentages are similar.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does AWD improve Pacifica resale value?

The evidence does not support a universal AWD premium. AWD and FWD are separate configurations with different equipment, prices and buyer pools. Compare them within the same model year, trim, mileage, condition, location and transaction type; snow-belt demand may differ from demand in warmer regions.

What mileage and condition assumptions matter most?

Mileage, accident and title history, service records, cosmetic condition and mechanical condition all affect an appraisal. Kelley Blue Book’s 2026 award methodology assumes average condition and 75,000 miles after five years. A real van with substantially different mileage or condition can produce a different result.

Are resale-value projections guaranteed?

No. iSeeCars, Edmunds and Kelley Blue Book provide estimates or projections. Actual value changes with valuation date, local inventory, interest rates, fuel prices, mileage, condition, options and whether you trade in, sell privately or sell through a dealer.

What is the fairest way to compare two Pacifica trims before buying?

Match model year, gas or hybrid powertrain, FWD or AWD, mileage assumptions, condition, history, ZIP code, valuation date and transaction type. Record both MSRP and realistic purchase price, obtain same-channel appraisals, and compare percentage retained as well as dollar depreciation.
