The best Bosch laser receiver depends on the exact laser it must work with. For a compatible rotary laser used indoors and outdoors, the Bosch Professional LR 45 is a strong all-around option: Bosch specifies up to 300 m working range for the receiver setup, IP66 protection and selectable accuracy settings. For line or combination lasers, the compact LR 6 may be the better fit; for the GRL 650 CHVG rotary laser, Bosch identifies the LR 65 G as suitable. Check the laser’s compatibility information before choosing a receiver—Bosch branding alone does not guarantee a match.
How to choose a Bosch laser receiver
Start with your laser’s model number and its manual or Bosch compatibility information. Bosch receivers are not interchangeable across every laser: some are intended for line or combination lasers, while others are designed for rotary lasers. Then compare the features that matter for the job.

- Compatibility and beam: Confirm the receiver supports the exact laser and its red or green beam.
- Working range: Treat the stated distance as a specification for the named receiver-and-laser setup, not a universal receiver limit. Sunlight and other unfavorable conditions can reduce usable range.
- Accuracy setting: Choose a suitable fine or rough mode. A selectable tolerance is not the same as a guarantee of field accuracy.
- Jobsite protection: Compare the published IP rating, but do not interpret it as permission to immerse the device or as protection against every kind of damage.
- Usability: Consider reception-window size, display visibility, audio signals, sensitivity settings, mounting and included accessories.

If your rotary laser is compatible and you need one receiver for indoor and outdoor work, the LR 45 combines broad stated use with useful jobsite features. Bosch specifies a working range of up to 300 m, IP66 protection, a dual-sided backlit display, six sensitivity settings and selectable accuracy from ±1 mm through ±10 mm. Those are manufacturer specifications; the maximum range should not be assumed for every laser or condition.
#1 Best Overall
- Receiver to extend working range increases rotary detection up to 500 Ft., with easy-to-see indicators and adjustable audio
- Backlit LCD display illuminates large, easy-to-see up/down arrows, center line, accuracy level, battery level and audio signal
- Dual-sided indicators provide easy visual readout on both sides of the receiver
- Oversized detection area enables fast laser reception
- Built-in magnets allow for secure attachment to metal surfaces
The receiver’s display provides a millimetre offset, while audible signals and selectable volume can help when the display is not easy to watch continuously. A spirit level and the cited variant’s RB 45 bracket may also be useful during setup. Check that the bracket is included in the exact regional package and suits your intended mounting arrangement.
Choose by laser type when the LR 45 is not a match
For a compatible line or combination laser: LR 6
The LR 6 is a compact option for selected line and combination lasers rather than a default substitute for a rotary-laser receiver. Bosch’s instructions for the GLL 3-80 family list both the LR 6 and LR 7 as compatible. The LR 6 offers visual and audible alignment, IP54 protection, and fine and rough settings of ±1 mm and ±3 mm. Bosch’s India page gives a range of up to 50 m; verify the laser-specific instructions and local product details before relying on that figure. The 2022 manual says operating time is approximately 30 hours.

For specified rotary lasers: LR 1
The LR 1 is explicitly paired in Bosch’s range statement with the GRL 400 H Professional and GRL 300 HV Professional: up to 200 m with those lasers. Bosch also lists IP65 protection, visual and audible alignment, and fine/rough accuracy of ±1 mm/±3 mm. Do not extend the 200 m figure to other rotary lasers without a matching specification.
For the GRL 650 CHVG: LR 65 G
Bosch identifies the LR 65 G as suitable for the GRL 650 CHVG. It detects green beams and has a 125 mm reception window, dual-sided backlit display and IP67 rating. The cited GB product page lists fine accuracy of ±0.5 mm and rough accuracy of ±10 mm. Confirm that the exact laser and regional receiver variant are compatible.

What range, accuracy and IP ratings do—and do not—tell you
Working range depends on the setup
A receiver’s distance claim should be read alongside the laser model and operating conditions. Bosch’s LR 1 page ties its up-to-200 m figure to two named rotary lasers. Bosch’s LR 6 manual warns that unfavorable conditions, including direct sunlight, can reduce working range. For the LR 45, Bosch lists up to 300 m, but that is not a promise of the same usable distance in every environment.
Accuracy figures are mode settings
Fine and rough modes serve different needs. The LR 6’s listed ±1 mm fine and ±3 mm rough settings, for example, are mode-specific specifications. The LR 45 offers selectable values from ±1 mm to ±10 mm, while the LR 65 G page lists ±0.5 mm fine and ±10 mm rough. Match the setting to the work and consult the manual for operating instructions.

IP ratings are not immersion guarantees
Bosch publishes IP66 for the LR 45, IP54 for the LR 6, IP65 for the LR 1 and IP67 for the LR 65 G. These ratings describe specified enclosure protection; they do not establish that a receiver is safe to immerse or immune to drops, impact or other jobsite hazards. Follow the model’s manual for care and exposure limits.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteBluetooth range is separate from laser detection range
The Bosch LR 60/LR 65 G manual dated 17 March 2025 gives a maximum Bluetooth signal range of 100 m and cautions that actual connection range can vary greatly with external conditions and the receiving device. This is a Bluetooth connectivity figure, not the distance at which the receiver detects a laser beam.
