But the available manufacturer documentation does not establish a definitive current list of compatible models. The clearest setting-path lead here is an ASUS ROG community discussion: Settings > Battery > Charging mode > Bypass charging. Its availability may depend on the exact ROG model and software version.
A battery-charge limit is not the same thing: it restricts how full the battery gets, but does not prove that the phone runs directly from the adapter. Keep the battery installed, and check your exact model’s current manual before relying on any feature.

What bypass charging means—and what it does not
Bypass charging is intended to let a phone draw power from its connected source while reducing or stopping charging of the installed battery. Its behavior can vary with model, software, workload, and power adapter. The sources available here do not establish a broad compatibility list or prove that any phone can run indefinitely under arbitrary power conditions.
Do not confuse it with two more common charging controls:
#1 Best Overall
- GSM Unlocked: Use your preferred GSM carrier with ease. Compatible with T-Mobile, Metro PCS, and others. Sim card not included. For availability on select networks, please consult your service provider. Note: This device is not compatible with AT&T/Cricket or CDMA networks like Verizon and Sprint.
- Two Screens, More Control: Large 6.78” curved main display for streaming, gaming, and browsing, plus a smaller, rear screen for quick selfies, messages, and music controls.
- Smooth Performance: Handles your favorite apps, games, and multitasking without slowing down, with plenty of space for all your photos and videos.
- Capture Your Best Moments: Triple rear camera and high-quality selfie camera for bright, detailed photos and 4K videos.
- All-Day Battery: Stay powered all day with our 5,000mAh battery, and recharge in a flash with our 66W quick charge technology that tops you up from 0 to 100% in just 20 minutes.
- Charge limit: stops or restricts charging at a selected battery level. That alone does not show that the phone is powered directly from the charger.
- Adaptive or scheduled charging: changes when or how the battery charges; it is not, by itself, a bypass mode.
These distinctions matter when comparing phones: a menu that protects battery health is not evidence of battery bypass.
Which Android phones have documented settings?
The evidence below identifies specific settings and documentation, not a definitive list of phones that support bypass charging. Only the ASUS ROG community thread gives a bypass menu path; the other cited manufacturer pages describe charge care or battery protection.

| ASUS ROG Phone 8 discussion | An ASUS ROG community forum thread reports a “Bypass charging” option. It does not confirm a definitive compatible-model list or that the path remains unchanged on current software. | Settings > Battery > Charging mode > Bypass charging | It is a reported bypass path, but community guidance is not model-specific manufacturer confirmation. Read the ROG discussion. |
| ASUS phone Battery care | ASUS support documents steady charging, scheduled charging, and a charging limit from 80% to 100%. How to check whether your phone has bypass charging
- Search the phone’s Settings. Try “bypass charging” or “charging mode.” On the ROG discussion’s reported path, open Settings > Battery > Charging mode and look for Bypass charging.
- Check the exact model’s current manual or support page. Look for explicit wording that says the phone can draw power from the adapter while limiting or stopping battery charging. A charge limit, Battery Care, or Battery protection description is not enough.
- Verify software and power requirements. If the manual specifies a software version, supported charger, or particular use case, follow those conditions. The cited sources do not establish universal charger requirements or whether bypass is available only during gaming.
- Confirm before buying or relying on it. Ask the manufacturer about the precise model, regional variant, and installed software. Menu names and availability can change across models, regions, and updates.
Why “run forever without a battery” is too broad
Bypass charging does not mean removing the battery. The feature described here concerns software-controlled power behavior while the battery remains installed. None of the cited sources establishes safe battery removal, batteryless booting, or indefinite operation under all workloads and power conditions. Do not treat a bypass option as permission to remove the battery or use an arbitrary power source.
