The Epson PictureMate PM-400 is worth considering if you also need 5×7 prints, but check its availability before buying. Two other named options—the KODAK Dock Plus 4PASS and Liene M100—may suit phone-first printing, though their current supplies, compatibility, and availability need confirmation.

What counts as a 4×6 photo printer?
A standard 4×6 printer makes postcard-size prints measuring 4.0 × 6.0 inches. That is different from pocket photo printers that produce 2×3-inch, square, or card-sized images. Check the supported paper size before you buy; a printer advertised for phone photos is not necessarily a standard 4×6 printer. Canon SELPHY CP1500: the best-supported all-around option
The CP1500 is a compact dye-sublimation printer with documented 4×6 output. Canon lists Wi-Fi and AirPrint, USB connectivity, and direct input from SD-family memory cards, so it can serve phone, computer, or camera workflows. Its optional NB-CP2LH battery is sold separately; Canon specifies up to 54 prints per full charge. Epson PictureMate PM-400: for 4×6 and 5×7 prints
The PM-400 is a four-color dye-inkjet printer that supports borderless 4×6 and 5×7 photos, making it the more flexible choice if you want the larger size too. Epson says a 4×6 print takes as fast as 36 seconds in Default Mode, and estimates approximately 100 4×6 photos per cartridge. Its Print Pack pairs a cartridge with 100 sheets of 4×6 photo paper. KODAK Dock Plus 4PASS: a phone-dock alternative to verify
The Dock Plus 4PASS is identified as a 4×6 smartphone-dock printer. It may appeal if you prefer placing a phone on a dock, but current official US pricing, app support, and media costs were not established in the available comparison. Verify the exact model, supported phone workflow, and replacement media before buying.

Liene M100: a phone-oriented dye-sublimation alternative to verify
The M100 is identified as a 4×6 dye-sublimation printer. Its current official availability, device compatibility, and recurring media price need confirmation. Treat it as a candidate to investigate rather than a firm ranked recommendation until those details are checked.
How to compare the real cost of printing
The printer’s purchase price is only one part of the cost. Compare the price and yield of the compatible supplies: paper and ribbon for dye-sublimation systems, or paper and ink for inkjet systems. Also account for misprints and photos you discard. The available figures do not establish a current, fully comparable cost per print across these models, so avoid treating undated online estimates as a reliable buying comparison.

How to interpret speed, resolution, and longevity claims
Manufacturer specifications can help establish supported sizes, stated print speed, and supply requirements, but they are not the same as an independent comparison of finished images. Epson lists a maximum resolution of 5,760 × 1,440 dpi and a minimum ink droplet size of 2 picoliters for the PM-400; those numbers do not prove it will look better than a dye-sublimation print. The two technologies use different approaches, so nominal dpi is not a like-for-like quality score.
Canon states a 100-year print-longevity figure for the CP1500, and Epson claims up to 200 years of album storage for the PM-400. These are manufacturer claims tied to specified conditions, not guarantees that every print will last that long in every home.
