You can play Othello online free in a browser against a computer, invite a friend to a private match, or find human opponents through services listed by the World Othello Federation (WOF). For solo practice, Free Reversi describes a no-account game with hints; for a friend match, Reversi Web and Funzu offer sharing options. If you want a broader player community, WOF lists turn-based and timed services. Check each destination for current access requirements and availability.

What to know about Reversi and Othello rules
Reversi and Othello are names used for the familiar two-sided disc-flipping game in these online options, although individual services may offer variants. Under the United States Othello Association’s Official Rules of Othello, a legal move places a disc so that at least one opposing disc is bracketed in a straight vertical, horizontal, or diagonal line; all discs bracketed by that move are flipped.

- A player must make a legal move when one is available; the player cannot choose to pass instead.
- If there is no legal move, that player forfeits the turn.
- The game ends when neither player has a legal move. The player with more discs wins; equal counts are a tie under these rules.
The same USOA rules specify a standard set with 64 equal squares in an eight-by-eight grid and 64 discs. You do not need physical equipment to play online.
