On a supported Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet, swipe up from the Home screen to open the Apps screen, then tap Secure Folder. If it is missing, check whether its shortcut was removed or the folder was hidden before concluding that your device does not support it.
Find and open Secure Folder
- From the Home screen, swipe up to open the Apps screen.
- Tap Secure Folder.
- Enter the PIN, password, pattern, or other credentials you set for it.
Secure Folder is accessed on the Galaxy device itself; Samsung says it cannot be opened from a computer or web browser. Samsung’s Galaxy support guide describes the Apps screen and Settings routes.

Restore the icon to the Apps screen
If Secure Folder is installed and configured but its Apps screen shortcut is gone, turn the shortcut back on in Settings. On interfaces with the newer menu wording, use:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Security and privacy, then More security settings.
- Tap Secure Folder and authenticate if prompted.
- Turn on Add Secure Folder to Apps screen.
Samsung’s setup guidance for another interface uses Settings > Biometrics and security > Secure Folder. Menu names and layout can differ by software version, device, and region. Samsung Canada’s guide covers restoring the shortcut and notes interface variation.

Check whether Secure Folder is hidden
Secure Folder can be hidden from the Apps screen using Quick Settings. Open the Quick Settings panel and tap the Secure Folder tile to show it again. If the tile is not there, use the panel’s edit controls to add it, then tap the tile.
The Quick Settings tile controls whether Secure Folder is shown or hidden; it is separate from restoring the Apps screen shortcut. Samsung documents this hide-and-show control in its Secure Folder instructions.

If Secure Folder does not appear in Settings
A missing Apps screen icon alone does not establish that your Galaxy device is unsupported. Check both the Secure Folder setting and Quick Settings. Samsung says that if Secure Folder does not appear in the specified security settings, the device may not support the feature. Availability is conditional on device support, so check your specific model and regional software rather than assuming compatibility.

Secure Folder missing from the share panel?
If your problem is that Secure Folder is absent from an app’s share panel—not missing from the Apps screen—that is a separate visibility issue. Samsung has separate troubleshooting guidance for Secure Folder not appearing in the share panel.
