Yes, WhatsApp is testing scheduled personal messages—but the feature is not generally available. As of October 12, 2026, WABetaInfo reported that scheduling was rolling out to some Android beta testers. If you have access, you can set a birthday greeting to send later; whether you can use it depends on your account and rollout status.
Who can schedule a WhatsApp message right now?
WABetaInfo reported that scheduled messages work in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.40.7 and were reaching some testers in a gradual rollout expected to continue over the following weeks. That does not establish availability for all Android users, nor does it confirm a stable release. The cited material also does not confirm current iPhone availability or a stable-release date. An earlier iPhone report from June 11, 2026, described the feature as under development and unavailable to beta testers at that time; it should not be treated as a current status update. WABetaInfo’s Android beta report and its earlier iPhone report are the available rollout accounts.

GSMArena also reported the Android beta rollout on October 12, citing WABetaInfo. That is corroboration of the same reporting chain, not an independent official announcement. GSMArena’s report repeats the feature details.

For testers with access, the reported flow is to write the message in an individual or group chat, then tap and hold the Send button to choose a delivery time. WABetaInfo says scheduled messages can contain text, links, photos, or videos. A scheduled message can include only one photo or video.

- Open the individual or group chat and compose the message.
- Tap and hold Send, then choose the delivery time shown in the scheduling controls.
- Confirm the scheduled message. To review or change plans before it sends, open the dedicated scheduled-messages section in that chat’s info.
According to the beta report, messages can be viewed, managed, or deleted from that section before delivery. A message can still be delivered if the sender’s device is offline or WhatsApp is closed. The recipient is not notified that the message was scheduled or that it was deleted before sending.

What to know before scheduling a group greeting
Group membership at the time of scheduling matters. WABetaInfo reports that a scheduled group message goes only to people who were members when it was scheduled. Someone who joins the group afterward will not receive it. If the greeting needs to reach a particular person, check that they are already in the group before scheduling.

These are separate functions. Business scheduling and event reminders do not mean that personal scheduled messages are available to everyone. Meta described the group feature this way: “Now, when you create and send an event in a group chat, you can set custom early reminders for your invitees.”

What if you do not see the schedule option?
- You may not be in the rollout. The reported Android feature was reaching only some beta testers, so having the cited app version alone does not guarantee access.
- You may be on a platform without confirmed availability. The available reporting does not establish current iPhone access or a general stable release.
- The feature may differ before launch. The time window, supported content, and controls described here come from beta reporting and could change.
