The feature is said to work in individual and group chats, but one scheduled message cannot contain multiple photos or videos. The report comes from WABetaInfo; Meta has not announced the consumer chat scheduler in the sources reviewed.
Who can schedule a WhatsApp message on Android?
WABetaInfo reported on October 12, 2026, that scheduled messages were available to some testers using WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.40.7, with access rolling out to more testers over the following weeks. That is a limited beta rollout, not confirmation that the feature is available in the stable app or to every Android user. WABetaInfo’s report is the source for the rollout details; Meta’s July 2026 feature roundup did not announce a consumer chat scheduler (WABetaInfo; Meta Newsroom).

If you do not see the scheduling option, that does not establish that your phone or chat is incompatible: the report says access is still being extended to testers. It does not give a general-release date.

How the reported Android scheduler works
- Open an individual or group chat and compose your message.
- Press and hold the Send button.
- Select the date and time when you want the message to be sent.
These steps describe the flow reported by WABetaInfo for the beta feature; they may not match an app version or account that has not received it.

What can you schedule—and what is the catch?
The report says the feature supports text, photos, and videos in both individual and group chats. The limitation is that a scheduled message cannot include multiple photos or multiple videos. In practical terms, do not assume you can queue a batch of media together in one scheduled message; the report establishes support for photo and video content, but not multiple items of either kind in a single scheduled send.
Is this the same as scheduling in WhatsApp Business?
No. WhatsApp’s Help Center documents separate Business tools: scheduled marketing messages and away messages. Those documented Business functions do not mean the newly reported consumer chat scheduler is available to everyone.
