The three practical ways to track WhatsApp calls are to review the app’s Calls tab, check call history on Desktop or Web when available, or keep a separate manual log. WhatsApp says call history cannot be emailed or exported, and internet calls do not appear on phone bills. For a record you can retain, note the details you need in a private spreadsheet or notebook.
1. Review the Calls tab in WhatsApp
The Calls tab is the built-in place to review incoming, outgoing, and missed calls. Select a call to see more information. WhatsApp also lets you remove a selected call or clear the call log. WhatsApp’s Help Center states: “You can’t email or export your call history.”

Before deleting or clearing call history, consider whether you need to retain it. WhatsApp says deleted history cannot be restored unless you created a backup first. The Calls tab is useful for routine review, but it is not a durable downloadable record. WhatsApp internet calls also do not appear on phone bills.

WhatsApp Desktop
WhatsApp’s desktop calling features include viewing call history. To place calls, the computer needs an active internet connection, suitable audio equipment, and the relevant permissions. Video calls also require a camera and camera permission. Desktop provides another way to review history, but it does not change WhatsApp’s stated restriction on emailing or exporting call history.

WhatsApp Web
Meta announced WhatsApp Web calling on July 28, 2026, with a dedicated Calls tab that includes call history and favorites. Meta said the features were rolling out gradually and would become available to everyone soon, so the option may not be present for every account yet. Check WhatsApp Web for the Calls tab rather than assuming the feature has reached your account.
3. Keep a separate manual log
If you need a longer-term record or a business follow-up list, manually enter only the details you need in a private spreadsheet or notebook. For example, record the date, contact, whether the call was incoming or outgoing, and any follow-up required. This is a practical workaround, not an official WhatsApp export or automatic tracking feature; you will need to make each entry yourself.

Keep the log secure and limit it to necessary information, especially if it contains business or personal details. WhatsApp does not provide a built-in export that will populate this record for you.

Call links invite people; they are not reports
WhatsApp call links let people join a call. Each link has a different secure URL, personal calls made through links are end-to-end encrypted, and unused links expire after 30 days. A call link is not a call-history report and does not provide a record of who called whom.

Ad metrics are not a general voice-call log
WhatsApp Business advertising metrics can include reach, ad clicks, cost per link click, and conversations started. These describe ad performance and chats started; they should not be treated as a general record of WhatsApp audio or video calls.
Business calling availability depends on region and platform
A Meta announcement from September 2025 described in-app calling for businesses using the WhatsApp Business Platform in India. It also said businesses could continue using the Business App for day-to-day interactions, including calls. This is a regional platform feature, not evidence that every business account can centrally track calls. Verify current availability in your region before relying on it.
Privacy statements are not a call-history export feature
WhatsApp’s privacy FAQ says personal calls are not audible to WhatsApp or Meta and that WhatsApp does not keep logs of who everyone is calling. That FAQ explains the January 2021 policy update and was last edited in May 2024; it should be read in that context, not as a current independent technical audit. It does not give users a way to export call history.
