What video formats does Roxio Creator NXT 9 support?
Roxio’s Creator NXT 9 product page lists input and output separately. Treat these as product-page compatibility claims for Creator NXT 9, not as a format list for every Roxio application.

Video formats listed for input
- AVI, DV, HDV, and DV-AVI
- MPEG-1/2/4 and MPEG2-HD
- DVD-Video, DVR-MS, ASF, and MOV (AVC)
- WMV and 3GP
- MPEG2 Transport Stream, AVC (H.264), and AVCHD
- HEVC (H.265), subject to the requirements below
- 3D formats including MPO, side-by-side, and over/under variants
Video formats listed for output
- AVI, DV-AVI, and HDV
- MPEG-1/2/4 and MPEG-2 HD
- WMV and WMV HD
- AVC (H.264), AVCHD, and 3GP
- HEVC (H.265), subject to the requirements below

The page also lists DVD and Mini DVD video disc output. Blu-ray video disc output requires a separate plug-in purchase within the product; that is disc authoring, not another file-export format.

The Creator NXT 9 File Converter help gives a narrower video conversion/output list: 3GP, AVCHD, AVI, DV-AVI, GIF, HDV, MP4, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-2 HD, WMV, and WMV HD.

This component-specific list is not interchangeable with the product page’s general input and output lists. For example, the converter help names MP4 and GIF, while the product page lists formats in a different scope. Check the particular operation you plan to perform rather than assuming that a format listed somewhere in the suite can be converted in every component.
Why a listed extension may still fail
A file extension identifies a container or broad file type, but files with the same extension can contain different codecs, profiles, or settings. Roxio’s published lists do not provide an exhaustive codec-and-profile matrix. If an import or conversion fails, verify the encoding details and confirm support for the specific application and version; the extension alone cannot settle compatibility.

HEVC requires compatible system support
Roxio states that HEVC (H.265) support requires supporting PC hardware or a graphics card and Microsoft HEVC Video Extensions. The NXT 9 page’s H.265 listing is therefore conditional, not a guarantee that every NXT 9 computer can handle HEVC files.
How to choose export settings in Creator NXT 9
Roxio’s export help describes choosing a purpose, video standard, and quality before creating the file. Match those choices to the playback device or destination rather than selecting a format solely because it appears in a list.

- Choose Output > Export As.
- Select the purpose for the exported video.
- Choose NTSC, PAL, or both as the video standard.
- Select a quality setting, then create the video file.
For a 3D production, choose a 3D video format. If you are unsure which one your setup needs, Roxio advises consulting the display or graphics-card documentation.

Format support should not be confused with capture hardware. Roxio’s Easy Burning page associates DV-camera capture with an OHCI-compliant IEEE 1394 FireWire card and analog-source capture with Roxio Video Capture USB. These are options or requirements for that product’s capture workflow, not universal prerequisites for importing files in every Roxio application.

Version also matters. A Roxio Creator User Guide warns, “The files supported by your version of the product may differ from those listed here.” Use format lists from older manuals as version-specific guidance rather than proof of compatibility with Creator NXT 9 or another release.
