That is a measure of assets valued inside protocol smart contracts—not a measure of how much USDD can be sold or redeemed quickly, whether its peg will hold, or whether its collateral is sufficient. The reported 4.5% rise over 30 days is a short-window change, not enough by itself to establish a longer-term trend or explain what caused it.
What USDD’s TVL measures—and what it does not
DefiLlama defines protocol TVL as the total value of coins held in a protocol’s smart contracts under its tracking methodology. For USDD, the tracker’s live protocol page reported about $1.289 billion in TVL in a snapshot accessed in 2026. Because the page is live and the exact access date is not specified here, treat that figure as a dated snapshot rather than a current guarantee. DefiLlama’s USDD protocol tracker

TVL is a dollar valuation, so it can change for at least two different reasons: the quantity of assets held in contracts can rise or fall, and the market prices used to value those assets can move. A dollar increase alone does not show that users deposited more assets; a dollar decline alone does not prove withdrawals. To distinguish flows from valuation effects, a trend analysis needs dated observations of both asset quantities and prices, as well as consistent tracking coverage.

- Circulating supply: the number or dollar value of USDD tokens in circulation.
- Market price and peg: the price at which USDD is quoted or traded at a particular time.
- Protocol TVL: the tracker-valued assets held in protocol contracts.
- Executable liquidity: the amount that can actually be sold, swapped, or redeemed at a given size and speed without unacceptable price impact or delay.
DefiLlama reports USDD supply and price on a separate stablecoin page. Those figures answer different questions from protocol TVL and should be read separately. Neither supply nor TVL, on its own, tells a holder how much can be exited immediately at a stable price. DefiLlama’s USDD stablecoin tracker
Where the 2026 TVL snapshot is concentrated
The chain allocation reported in the same 2026 snapshot was heavily weighted to Tron. The tracker’s chain values were approximately:

| Chain | TVL in the snapshot | Approximate share of reported total |
|---|---|---|
| Tron | $1.238 billion | About 96% |
| Ethereum | $30.6 million | About 2.4% |
| BNB Chain | $20.47 million | About 1.6% |
The amounts are live tracker values accessed in 2026, not fixed reserve figures. The percentages for Ethereum and BNB Chain are approximate calculations from the reported amounts and total. Small differences from 100% can result from rounding or other tracker details. See the protocol tracker for the live allocation.

Trading pools, bridges, counterparties, and routes for moving or redeeming assets may not be equally available across chains. A holder’s practical exit options depend on the chain and venue they can access, not just the protocol-wide total. The snapshot establishes concentration of reported TVL; it does not establish the depth, reliability, or speed of any particular exit route.

Does the 4.5% 30-day increase establish a TVL trend?
No. DefiLlama’s snapshot reported a 4.5% increase over 30 days, but that is one short-window comparison. It is not a long-term trend and does not identify whether the change came from deposits, withdrawals, asset-price movements, changes in supported-chain coverage, or tracker methodology. The retrieved figures do not provide verified historical endpoints or inflection points from which to describe a longer series.
A defensible trend assessment would use a dated series and keep its scope consistent. For each observation, it should specify the start and end date, chain coverage, tracker source, and whether values are denominated in U.S. dollars. Where the data allows, compare deposited token quantities with their dollar valuations. Check whether the tracked protocol definition or supported chains changed during the period. For a major move, corroborate the TVL observation with a separately dated supply or on-chain observation before assigning a cause.

Without those checks, the safest conclusion is limited: the tracker showed a 4.5% rise over the 30 days represented in its 2026 snapshot, but the available figures do not establish the direction of user flows or a sustained trend.

What the snapshot says about liquidity risk
TVL is useful as a measure of the value attributed to assets inside tracked contracts, but it is not a test of whether a holder can exit a position during stress. Liquidity risk depends on the route, transaction size, market conditions, and mechanisms available when an exit is needed.

- Chain concentration: About 96% of the reported TVL was on Tron. Assess the specific chain’s trading venues, bridge routes, and redemption paths rather than treating the aggregate as universally accessible.
- Market depth and slippage: Check order books or pool depth at the transaction size that matters. A large TVL figure does not establish that buyers or swap liquidity are available at a stable price.
- Supply and price: Read circulating supply alongside observed market price and trading liquidity. A quote near one dollar is a point-in-time market observation, not proof of access to redemption at that value.
- Collateral quality and concentration: Current reserve quantities, asset composition, valuation conventions, and collateral ratios are needed to assess backing. Asset volatility and concentration can affect how much value remains available under stress.
- Mechanism capacity: Liquidations and stablecoin conversion depend on functioning systems and available counterparties. Congestion, market disruption, or insufficient capacity could affect performance precisely when demand for exits rises.
- Version continuity: Identify whether each supply, collateral, or TVL observation refers to current USDD or USDDOLD. Do not join figures across versions as one uninterrupted series without explaining migration and methodology differences.
What USDD’s collateral and conversion documentation establishes
USDD’s current system architecture describes collateralized positions, minimum collateral thresholds that vary by asset, liquidation eligibility when a position falls below its threshold, keeper incentives, collateral auctions, and a Peg Stability Module that facilitates USDD/stablecoin conversion at a stated fixed ratio. These descriptions explain intended system mechanics; they do not independently verify current reserve adequacy, prove that collateral can be liquidated quickly at expected values, or show how conversion performs under stress. The documentation also says further governance detail will be shared later. USDD System Architecture
Legacy USDD documentation identifies BTC, USDT, USDC, and TRX as collateral assets and directs readers to USDD and TRON DAO Reserve dashboards for current collateral details and the collateral ratio. That page includes a historic TRX burn-contract amount and value in a screenshot dated March 16, 2023; it should not be treated as a current reserve figure or collateral ratio. Legacy USDD collateral documentation
For a current assessment of over-collateralization, a reader needs current reserve quantities and composition, the valuation basis for each asset, liabilities or supply included in the calculation, and the applicable collateral thresholds. A protocol description or old dashboard image does not supply that reconciliation. The available sources do not establish an independently reconciled current collateral ratio or reserve breakdown, so they do not support a definitive conclusion about present collateral sufficiency.

How to evaluate USDD’s liquidity from here
- Fix the date and version. Record the observation date and verify whether the figures refer to current USDD or USDDOLD. The current documentation distinguishes the new USDD version from USDDOLD, so older supply or collateral observations may not be directly comparable. USDD introduction
- Separate the metrics. Record protocol TVL, circulating supply, market price, and available trading or redemption liquidity separately. Do not use one as a proxy for another.
- Inspect the chain and venue. Start with the chain where the holder’s assets sit, then check accessible pools, order books, bridges, and redemption routes. Consider the size of the intended exit and likely slippage.
- Verify collateral data. Use current reserve quantities and asset composition, confirm how the collateral ratio is calculated, and account for asset volatility and concentration. Treat protocol documentation as a description of design, not an independent audit.
- Test mechanism assumptions under stress. Consider whether liquidation, collateral auctions, and stablecoin conversion could operate amid congestion or market stress. The existence of a mechanism does not establish its capacity in those conditions.
- Compare like with like. For comparisons with another stablecoin or collateralized-debt protocol, align the date windows and definitions. Compare TVL methodology, chain and venue concentration, circulating supply versus redeemable liquidity, collateral valuation and concentration, and liquidation or redemption mechanics—not just headline TVL.
