What Ubisoft’s Studio Reorganisation Means for Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon

Ubisoft’s Creative House 2 will use the Massive Entertainment identity, bringing teams responsible for The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell under one name. No new game or release date was announced.

Ubisoft is grouping the teams responsible for The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell under the Massive Entertainment identity. The October 2026 announcement describes a shared organisational identity across teams in Montréal, Paris, Sweden and Toronto—not a new game reveal, a release schedule or a transfer out of Ubisoft.

What Ubisoft announced

Creative House 2, Ubisoft’s group focused on shooter experiences, will operate under the Massive Entertainment name. Teams responsible for The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell across Montréal, Paris, Sweden and Toronto are to share that identity. Ubisoft says it intends to bring their creative and technology expertise together. Ubisoft’s October 2026 announcement does not say that all developers are moving into one office or that a single studio will make every future game in those franchises.

Christoph Hartmann, General Manager of Massive Entertainment, said the arrangement offers an opportunity to combine expertise across the four locations to shape the franchises’ “next generation,” create games and new IP, and advance the teams’ craft and technology. That is a statement of intent, not confirmation of a specific project.

How this fits Ubisoft’s wider reorganisation

The October move is the latest step in an operating-model change Ubisoft began in January 2026. The company’s January 21 reset announcement introduced five Creative Houses aligned around brands and player experiences. Creative House 2 was assigned shooter franchises including The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell. That broader reset also included portfolio changes, restructuring and studio closures.

#1 Best Overall
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow - Xbox
  • Incredible real movement and control - you can even shift Sam's weight when preparing him for a split jump between two walls
  • Exciting new moves maximize Sam's lethal fighting skills -- spin out of the shadows and kill silently
  • All-new moves and levels - fight in jungles, on rooftops, on top of(and under) a moving train
  • Advanced AI makes it harder than ever to get past enemies - if you reveal yourself they'll get reinforcements and put on armor
  • Weapons now have secondary functions that can be equipped on the fly - be amazed at the advantage you get from the red dot of the laser sight

In March, Ubisoft said Creative Houses would have responsibility for the development and long-term growth of their brands, with more autonomy. A separate Creative Network would provide production capacity and specialist expertise across projects. The leadership update is described in Ubisoft’s March 17, 2026 announcement. The October announcement gives Creative House 2 the Massive Entertainment identity; it does not specify how project staffing or creative leadership will be organised within that model.

What it means for Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell

A shared identity, not a confirmed development assignment

The franchises now sit under the same named organisation as The Division, with responsible teams spanning four locations. This signals a shared organisational home and an intended opportunity to collaborate. Ubisoft has not identified which location will lead a future Ghost Recon or Splinter Cell project, named a project team, or described a change to either franchise’s creative leadership.

No new game or timetable

The October announcement names the franchises but gives no new title, reveal date, launch window or release date for either series. Its language about shaping a “next generation” should not be read as a promise that a particular game is in production or will arrive by a particular date.

The publisher and player commitments remain unchanged

Massive Entertainment remains part of Ubisoft. Ubisoft says it will continue publishing and distributing games developed under the Massive brand, and that existing commitments to players and partners are unchanged. The announcement is therefore an internal organisational change, not a publishing separation.

What is known about the Splinter Cell remake

In February 2026, PC Gamer reported that Ubisoft had said the Splinter Cell remake remained in development after 40 role reductions at its Toronto studio. That report predates the October reorganisation. It is historical status context, not an update on the remake’s progress, staffing or schedule following the move to the Massive Entertainment identity. PC Gamer’s February 19 report does not establish a release date.
