AION 2 training dummies give you a target for practicing skills and observing damage, but a dummy result is not a forecast of your damage against a boss. Some dummies in towns and Legion bases gained attack skills in the July 22, 2026 update; the change does not establish that every dummy behaves that way.
What AION 2 training dummies are useful for
A dummy gives you a target against which to practice a skill sequence and observe damage with your current character setup. You can also compare runs, provided you use the same target and keep other conditions as consistent as practical. These are practical uses, not an official, standardized testing specification.

Some dummies can use attack skills
A third-party summary of the July 22, 2026 AION 2 update says some training dummies in towns and Legion bases were replaced with attack-skill dummies. It states: “Attack-skill dummies only use skills while you are near the dummy.” This change is scoped to some dummies in those locations; it does not show that every dummy attacks or establish the behavior of other dummy types. How to interpret dummy damage and meter results
A dummy reading describes damage against that target under the conditions of the test. Community damage analysis describes damage as dependent on target properties and combat modifiers, so a result from one target or setup is not a universal class ranking. If you use the open-source AION 2 DPS meter, its README says the meter calculates DPS from the monster that has taken the most total damage. It recommends hitting the same training dummy when comparing players, and says multi-hit skills count each hit individually. A meter number therefore depends on which target it tracks and how it processes hits. See the meter documentation.
For a fairer comparison
Use the same target and record the conditions that can affect the result. The meter documentation directly recommends a consistent dummy; the other controls below are methodological guidance, not an official AION 2 protocol.

- Skills and sequence used, plus test duration
- Buffs, debuffs, and other damage modifiers
- Meter method, including how multi-hit events are counted
What a dummy test cannot establish
It cannot predict boss damage on its own
A dummy test does not reproduce a boss’s movement, attack patterns, positioning demands, target changes, or encounter-specific conditions. This is a practical inference from the difference between target-based dummy testing and boss encounters, not a quoted official specification. A single dummy number does not prove how a build will perform in a dungeon or boss fight. Nor can it fairly rank classes unless relevant variables—such as build, skills, buffs, target, and test duration—are controlled. The reviewed community sources do not provide a complete official protocol for doing that.

Dummy settings that are not established
Current health, defense, resistance, and reset behavior for each dummy type are not established by the sources cited here. Avoid assuming these values are identical between dummies or using an undocumented setting to present a result as a standardized benchmark.
