A Redmi tablet missing an update is not necessarily at end of life: Xiaomi rolls software out by model and region, and timing can vary. Check the tablet’s exact model and ROM region, its Android or HyperOS version, and its Android security patch level before deciding whether support has ended. Use Xiaomi’s built-in updater or an authorized service outlet; if routine security patches have ended, reduce sensitive use or replace the device if its remaining risk is unacceptable.
Why is my Redmi tablet not getting updates?
There are several possible explanations: a rollout may be staged, the update may not yet be available for your region or software variant, or the tablet may no longer be eligible. A missing update alone does not establish that support has ended.

The family name “Redmi Pad” is not enough to determine eligibility. Record the full model name and model code, as well as the region or ROM variant. Compare those details with Xiaomi’s information for that specific device and market. Xiaomi’s published HyperOS 3 rollout schedule listed REDMI Pad 2 and REDMI Pad 2 4G in a November–December 2025 cohort, and REDMI Pad Pro, REDMI Pad Pro 5G, REDMI Pad SE 8.7, and REDMI Pad SE 8.7 4G in a December 2025–March 2026 cohort. Those windows have passed, but the schedule does not confirm that a particular tablet received a build or that it continues to receive security patches. Xiaomi says timing and availability vary by device and region, and that the schedule may change.
Support commitments also differ by model. For example, Xiaomi India’s REDMI Pad SE 4G FAQ specifies two major Android updates and three years of Google security maintenance for that model. It is not a support promise for every Redmi tablet. Xiaomi Italy’s general statement about security updates—at least two years after first shipment, with three years or more for some models—concerns smartphones, so it should not be treated as a Redmi tablet guarantee.

How do I check for updates on my Redmi Pad?
- Identify the device. Open Settings > About tablet and note the full model name or code, Android or HyperOS version, and Android security patch level. Record the region or ROM variant too, if shown.
- Check the built-in updater. Open the software update screen from Settings and use its check function. Make sure the tablet has a reliable network connection, enough battery, and sufficient free storage to download and install an available update.
- Compare the result with Xiaomi’s information for your exact variant. Check the appropriate regional support or release information. Allow for staged rollout timing rather than assuming that another region’s release applies to your device.
- Ask Xiaomi if the status is unclear. Contact Xiaomi support or an authorized service outlet with the model code, ROM region, current software version, and patch level. Xiaomi’s Redmi Pad user guide directs users to the built-in software update feature or an authorized service outlet. It warns that updating by other means may damage the device or lead to data loss, security issues, or other risks.
Do not change the device region or sideload firmware just to force an update. Never install a package meant for another model or region. The rollout roadmap can help establish whether a model was listed for a release window, but it is not a complete per-model security end-of-life record.
How can I tell whether my Redmi tablet is end of life?
Look for current, official information that applies to the exact model and regional variant. Distinguish an Android-version upgrade schedule from security maintenance: a tablet can stop receiving major Android upgrades while still receiving security patches, or stop receiving routine patches without a new Android version being due. A roadmap or another model’s update promise cannot settle the status of your tablet.

If Xiaomi’s public information does not give a clear cutoff, ask Xiaomi support or an authorized service outlet to confirm whether the model still receives Android security maintenance in your region. Keep the answer alongside your recorded patch level so you can judge the device’s status over time.

These measures lower some risks; they do not restore missing operating-system or firmware fixes.
Reduce sensitive use
If routine patches have ended and you consider the risk unacceptable, avoid relying on the tablet as your only device for high-impact banking, work administration, or accounts holding sensitive data.

Consider community software only after checking the exact device
Before installing a community operating system, check the project’s own documentation for active maintenance, security-patch cadence, known hardware issues, app compatibility, and the implications of installation or relocking for that exact model. Back up first. Custom firmware can introduce installation, data-loss, or device-function risks and should not be assumed to provide manufacturer-equivalent support.

Replace it when its remaining support is not enough
Compare a replacement’s stated security-update period and policy for the exact model and region, not only its Android version or marketing tier. REDMI Pad 2 appeared in Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 schedule, but that listing alone does not establish its long-term support period, current status, price, or availability.

If you are done with the tablet, use a local electronics take-back option. Back up anything you need, sign out of accounts, and erase or reset the device before handing it over.
