If Gemini Enterprise adoption numbers look wrong, first identify which metric and reporting view you are comparing, then check data-store linkage, refresh timing, event capture, instrumentation, and retention. A missing chart, a default value, a low active-user count, and a sudden drop caused by failed requests are different problems—and each requires a different check.
Start by defining the discrepancy
Before changing settings, write down the exact comparison. This keeps a difference in scope or definition from being mistaken for a product failure.

- Product scope: Gemini Enterprise app and project, and—if relevant—the specific agent or data store.
- View and metric: the dashboard tab (such as Adoption or Usage and Quality), the metric name, and the value or missing chart.
- Time window: reporting interval and time zone, plus when the activity occurred and when you checked.
- Population: which users, API clients, agents, or requests are included in each number.
- Expected source: what you are treating as the comparison point, such as an internal usage report, API export, logs, or BigQuery query.
Distinguish “there is no chart or value” from “there is a value, but it seems implausible.” Then compare the two sources’ event coverage, identity and deduplication rules, time window, refresh schedule, and error handling. Google notes that Engine request total latency includes requests that return errors; other metrics have their own definitions, so do not assume every chart counts the same requests.

Gemini Enterprise Analytics app metrics are available only from the time a data store is linked to the app. If a data store was unlinked, some app metrics can be lost. Google also says that specific metrics for CMEK-encrypted data cannot be retrieved after they are lost. Check the app’s data-store history and encryption context before interpreting a gap as evidence of low usage. Google’s Analytics documentation describes these limits.

- Magic Capture catches the moment as you live it: With just one tap, Pixel 11 Pro captures video and photos, and automatically edits, crops, and unblurs a curated collection, ready to share – and you get the memory of how it felt to be in the moment
- Two new cameras for more brilliant photos: A larger telephoto sensor captures 30% more light for clear, beautiful photos and videos, even in the dark[3]; Pixel’s longest zoom ever helps you capture details from impressive distances[4]
Analytics refreshes about every six hours, so activity from a recent deployment or change may not appear in the dashboard yet. If there are no search logs or user events, the product shows default values for all metrics. A default or unchanged value is therefore not proof that users had no activity—or that they did.
Verify what “active users” means
In Gemini Enterprise Analytics, total users means unique active users during the selected period. A user is active if they sign in and make any API call, including a call from loading the home page; each user is counted once in the period even if they invoke several methods. The figure is not a count of people who meaningfully used a feature, completed a search, or received an answer.
Seats purchased and seats claimed are separate from active users. Google documents those seat figures as cumulative since registration, so they should not be compared directly with a period-based active-user count. Use the metric definition in the Analytics documentation before labeling a number as adoption.

Check whether your requests generate the required events
Searches and answers made through the Gemini Enterprise interface do not need extra event configuration for Analytics. The situation differs when an organization calls Gemini Enterprise APIs from its own application: it must configure search to capture and import user events for the applicable search analytics.
- Click-through rate: search and view-item events are required. If either is absent, this metric may be missing or incomplete.
- Attribution metrics: include the Google-generated attribution token in the resulting user event. Only events carrying that token are used for those metrics.
- Session-level analytics and search quality: Google recommends the optional
SearchRequest.UserPseudoId.
For custom API clients, verify both event generation and import, then check that the event contains the fields required for the metric in question. A request visible in application logs does not by itself establish that the corresponding Analytics event was captured and imported. See Google’s event and Analytics guidance.
Choose the telemetry view that matches the question
App-level Analytics, app-scoped Engine metrics, and agent-scoped metrics describe different layers of activity. Use the view whose scope matches the question instead of treating their counts as interchangeable.
| View | What it helps answer | Collection or refresh requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Gemini Enterprise Analytics | Product analytics such as adoption, usage, and quality for the app | Available from when a data store is linked; refreshes about every six hours. Missing search logs or user events can result in default values. Google Cloud |
| App-scoped Engine metrics | Traffic to the app, including request-level measures | Collected regardless of observability settings. Google Cloud |
| Agent-scoped metrics | Agent sessions, turns, tool invocations, and related measures | Require OpenTelemetry instrumentation. Metrics Explorer data refreshes about every minute. Google Cloud |
For Core Assistant, enable instrumentation in the app configuration. For supported employee-made Workflow Builder and Deep Research agents, configure it for the individual agent. Google’s observability settings guide explains where these controls are. An absent agent metric can reflect missing instrumentation even while app-scoped Engine metrics are being collected.

Check metric retention before investigating older gaps
Gemini Enterprise metrics under the discoveryengine.googleapis.com/ prefix are retained for six weeks by default in Cloud Monitoring; older data is deleted after that period. If you need longer-term analysis, plan an export or reporting pipeline rather than relying on Metrics Explorer to retain historical values. The retention period is documented in Google’s metrics guidance.
Trace a suspected connector or access failure
A drop in apparent adoption can result from requests failing rather than users stopping. For a data-store problem, Google’s troubleshooting sequence moves from trends to the request and its error details. Filter by Engine and Tool IDs where they apply.

- Review request and error trends. Look for a change in failures that aligns with the adoption gap.
- Find a failing request in Trace Explorer. Use its trace to identify the affected request and path.
- Inspect the error payload in Logs Explorer. Determine whether the failure points to a connector, request, or other operational issue.
- Cross-check Cloud Audit Logs. If the error suggests a changed IAM policy, missing scope, or denied permission, look for the related access change.
This sequence can help distinguish a real access or connector problem from an analytics-definition mismatch. Follow Google’s data-store troubleshooting guide for the corresponding workflow.

Gemini Enterprise usage audit logs require observability configuration and the appropriate Gemini Enterprise Admin and Logs Viewer roles. Audit logs can help establish what happened, but prompts and response content are sensitive. Full prompt-and-response logging is separately controlled and can capture sensitive information or personally identifiable information.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsRestrict log access to authorized personnel. Enable content logging only when it is justified for the investigation and permitted by your organization’s controls. Google’s usage audit log guide covers prerequisites and access.

Use exports and BigQuery without conflating definitions
The Analytics export API can export the past 30 days, including the current day, to BigQuery. Google documents a limit of five calls per day per project and 25 per day per organization. Those limits and the export window are described in the Analytics documentation.
For broader organization-centric analysis, a Google Cloud Blog post published July 15, 2026 describes combining Gemini Enterprise log sinks with BigQuery. A custom report can extend analysis, but its totals should not be silently presented as equivalent to the product dashboard. Document the differences that affect the comparison:
- Which behavior counts as activity.
- Whether the report covers an app, an agent, or both.
- How user identity and deduplication are handled.
- Which events and attribution tokens are included.
- The reporting period, time zone, and refresh cadence.
- What data is retained and whether requests that returned errors are included or filtered.
See Google Cloud’s BigQuery adoption analysis article for its log-sink approach.
