Start by checking the exact graphics card: NVIDIA’s Windows XP driver listings reviewed here name the original GeForce GTX TITAN and GTX TITAN Black, not the NVIDIA TITAN Xp. NVIDIA also says Windows XP support was deprecated beginning with GeForce driver release 370.xx. The cited official evidence therefore does not establish TITAN Xp support on Windows XP. Do not install a driver for the similarly named GTX TITAN on the assumption that it supports TITAN Xp.
Check whether the card and operating system are listed
Confirm the model printed on the card or shown in the system’s hardware information. The NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 368.81 listing, released July 14, 2016, identifies Windows XP and lists the GeForce GTX TITAN and GTX TITAN Black among supported products. It does not list TITAN Xp. NVIDIA’s 364.51 listing, released March 8, 2016, likewise names those GTX TITAN models, not TITAN Xp.

Also identify the Windows XP edition and whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit. A driver listing must match both the operating system and the hardware it names; a package for another graphics-card model is not evidence of support. NVIDIA’s operating-system support information says Windows XP was deprecated beginning with release 370.xx. That does not identify a final or verified TITAN Xp driver for XP.

- Try Safe Mode or a basic display path. If Windows can start in Safe Mode, use it to regain access to the desktop. If available, a known-good basic display connection or configuration may also help restore a usable picture.
- Remove the failed driver and restart. NVIDIA’s general graphics-driver troubleshooting guidance describes clean driver removal in Safe Mode for users familiar with those procedures. Follow the steps appropriate to your Windows XP installation; do not assume a third-party removal utility is an NVIDIA product or a guaranteed fix.
- Do not reinstall a package just because its name looks similar. The GTX TITAN and TITAN Xp are distinct models. The XP listings cited above do not establish that their GTX TITAN package supports TITAN Xp.
Check for other causes of crashes and freezes
A black screen or instability after a driver change can point to a display-driver problem, but it does not prove the driver is the only cause. NVIDIA’s troubleshooting material discusses symptoms such as crashing, system lockups, freezes, and blue screens, and recommends broader system checks. These are general troubleshooting checks, not fixes verified specifically for TITAN Xp on XP.
- Return CPU, memory, and GPU overclocks to default settings.
- Note whether the failure occurs only in a particular game or application, or also on the desktop.
- Check that the motherboard chipset drivers come from the chipset maker.
If the computer remains unstable after these checks, the available official evidence does not determine whether the cause is the driver, another component, or a fault in the individual machine.
If Windows XP is mandatory, investigate a listed legacy card
If the machine must keep Windows XP and the TITAN Xp remains unusable, one option to investigate is a graphics card explicitly named in an NVIDIA XP driver listing, such as the original GeForce GTX TITAN. That is not the TITAN Xp. NVIDIA’s 368.81 supported-products list supports only the narrower point that the original model is named in that package; it does not guarantee compatibility with a particular PC.

Before considering a used replacement, verify the exact XP edition and driver architecture, the motherboard and case fit, power-supply requirements, and the seller’s condition and return terms. The TITAN Xp user guide covers installation and system requirements for that card, but it does not establish Windows XP driver support.

What is and is not established
The official NVIDIA XP listings cited here do not name TITAN Xp, and NVIDIA’s OS support page says XP was deprecated beginning with release 370.xx. These sources do not establish a TITAN Xp-specific official XP driver, a verified stable driver version, or a reliable modified-INF workaround. Forum reports or a driver package for the GTX TITAN should not be treated as proof of official TITAN Xp support.
