What to Do When a Sportsbook Bonus Is Missing or Won’t Apply

A missing sportsbook bonus may hinge on opt-in, eligibility, wager details, or the offer’s posting window. Here’s how to check the terms and pursue a dispute.

If a sportsbook bonus is missing or will not apply, check the exact offer terms first: confirm you activated the offer, met its eligibility and wager requirements, and allowed the stated crediting period to pass. If it still appears wrong, save the offer and your account records, ask the sportsbook which requirement was not met, and contact the regulator for the place where you bet if support does not resolve it.

Check the offer requirements one by one

Promotions have their own conditions, so do not assume that placing a bet or making a deposit automatically qualifies you. Open the terms for the specific offer you claimed, and check the requirements that applied when you enrolled.

  • Activation: Did you have to opt in, click a claim button, or enter a promo code? Confirm the offer was activated and that any required code was accepted.
  • Eligibility: Was the offer limited to new customers, a particular account status, or customers in a specific location? Check any age requirement and other offer-specific restrictions.
  • Deposit: Did you deposit the required amount using an eligible method, and within the promotional period?
  • Qualifying wager: Did you place a cash wager rather than use a bonus credit? Check the minimum stake, bet type, odds, event or market, and any settlement requirement in the terms.
  • Timing: Was the offer active when you opted in, deposited, and placed the qualifying wager? Check its start and end times, not just the date you saw it advertised.

Operator help pages identify opt-in, promo code, qualifying wager, deposit amount, and eligible games as common checks. See betPARX’s New Jersey troubleshooting guidance and the Gun Lake Casino Help Center. These are operator-specific examples, not universal rules.

Check the crediting window and expiry separately

A reward may not appear immediately after a qualifying wager. Find the offer’s stated processing time, then check when it starts counting and whether the wager must settle first. Also note how long the reward remains usable after it is credited; an award can be present but already expired or subject to a limited-use condition.

For example, ESPN BET’s “Make Any Sportsbook Bet, Get $225” offer says qualifying bonus bets are applied within 72 hours and must be used within seven days of receipt. Its terms also require an offer code during registration and a qualifying cash wager. Those timings belong to that offer and should not be treated as a general sportsbook standard. Review the current terms for the specific promotion at ESPN BET’s offer page.

Verify account and location eligibility

Eligibility may depend on more than the wager itself. FanDuel’s New Jersey terms, for example, describe eligibility as requiring an account, physical presence in New Jersey, a minimum age of 21, and compliance with additional offer-specific requirements. Check the terms for your state or jurisdiction and the version in effect when you enrolled; offers and rules can differ by location and change over time. See FanDuel’s New Jersey terms.

Gather evidence before contacting support

If the terms appear satisfied and the crediting window has passed, contact the sportsbook through its official support channel. Keep a concise record so support can trace the offer and the qualifying activity.

  • The offer name, a copy or screenshot of its terms, and when you enrolled.
  • Screenshots showing the promotion, opt-in or code confirmation, and account status.
  • Deposit details and the qualifying wager’s date, amount, event or market, and settlement status.
  • Relevant messages or support replies, including dates.

Ask support to identify the specific requirement its system considers unmet and state the crediting window that applies to your offer. betPARX’s New Jersey help guidance likewise advises contacting support with the promotion name and details after checking the listed criteria.

Escalate unresolved disputes through the regulator for your place of play

If the operator does not resolve the issue, identify the regulator responsible for sports wagering where you placed the bet and follow that regulator’s official complaint process. Complaint forms, deadlines, and possible remedies vary by jurisdiction; there is no single U.S.-wide procedure established by the rules cited here.

State rules can require specific disclosures in promotion terms. Ohio’s Administrative Code Rule 3775-16-09, effective October 26, 2024, requires clear and unambiguous terms that cover matters such as active and expiration times, eligibility, wagering and redemption requirements, eligible wagers, and cancellation requirements. Kentucky’s 809 KAR 10:002, effective July 1, 2024, requires specified promotion disclosures and cancellation information for promotions involving restricted credits, including information about returned unrestricted funds and removed restricted credits. These are jurisdiction-specific protections, not nationwide rules.

Do not deposit or wager more just to trigger a disputed bonus

Pause before placing another bet or adding funds in an attempt to make the promotion apply. An additional transaction could affect your balance or promotion status. Whether you can cancel participation, and what happens to funds or restricted credits, depends on the offer terms and local rules. Ask support what would happen before taking an action that might change your account.
