Track each sportsbook promotion as a separate offer: save its exact terms, record what the wagering multiplier applies to, and put every opt-in, bet, bonus-use, and completion deadline on your calendar. The rules can vary by operator, promotion, and jurisdiction, so use the offer terms shown when you accept it—not a formula or deadline assumed from another offer.
What to record for each sportsbook offer
Create a separate spreadsheet row or notebook page for every promotion. Save a dated screenshot or copy of the full terms when you accept it, along with a link to the offer if available. Before placing bets or withdrawing, check the current promotion terms and your account display: the specific offer may set different conditions.

| Record | What to capture |
|---|---|
| Offer identity | Sportsbook, jurisdiction, promotion name, and source link or screenshot. |
| Timing | Acceptance and activation timestamps; the expiry timestamp and time zone; and separate deadlines for opting in, placing a qualifying wager, using bonus credit, and completing wagering. |
| Eligibility and activation | Who qualifies and what deposit or other action is required, including any qualifying action deadline. |
| Bonus and wagering calculation | Bonus type and value, the playthrough multiplier, and the exact amount the multiplier applies to: bonus, deposit, or both. |
| Bet restrictions | Eligible wager types and events, odds or stake limits, and any excluded wagers. |
| Funds and exit conditions | Which funds are used first, how to redeem or cancel the promotion, and the conditions for withdrawing funds or winnings. |
These fields reflect the kinds of details regulators require in some jurisdictions, not a universal checklist imposed by one nationwide rule. Ohio, for example, requires promotion rules to cover active and expiry times, eligibility, wagering and redemption requirements, eligible events or wagers, and cancellation terms (Ohio Administrative Code, Chapter 3775-16). Kentucky regulations also identify offer dates, eligibility, wagering limitations, order of funds, eligible wagers, and cancellation requirements (Kentucky Administrative Regulations, Title 809 Chapter 10 Regulation 002).
How to keep track of sportsbook bonus deadlines
Do not treat an offer as having one all-purpose expiry date. It can have distinct deadlines for accepting the promotion, making a qualifying deposit or wager, using a bonus credit, and finishing the required wagering. Copy each date and time zone from the terms, then create a calendar event for each one.

- Enter the exact deadline. Record the date, time, and time zone as written in the offer terms. If a deadline is unclear, ask the operator to clarify it before relying on an interpretation.
- Create separate calendar events. Label each event by action, such as “opt in,” “qualifying wager,” “use bonus credit,” or “complete wagering.”
- Set reminders before the deadline. Choose reminders that leave time to review restrictions and act; a reminder does not extend the operator’s deadline.
- Update the record when the offer changes status. Note when you opted in, placed a qualifying bet, used credit, or completed the requirement, and keep any confirmation.
A FanDuel Washington, DC master-terms result says a bonus usable for a limited time is valid for seven days from issuance unless the specific promotion says otherwise (FanDuel Washington, DC master promotional terms). Treat that as an example of why to capture the individual offer’s deadline—not as a general FanDuel rule or a deadline that applies to other sportsbooks.
How much do you have to wager to clear a sportsbook bonus?
Multiply only the amount specified as the wagering base in the offer’s terms. Do not assume that a “10x” requirement applies only to bonus funds, or that it includes the deposit. The Danish Gambling Authority illustrates the difference: a DKK 100 bonus with a 10-times requirement means DKK 1,000 in wagering; if the same multiplier applies to a DKK 100 deposit plus a DKK 100 bonus, the total is DKK 2,000 (Danish Gambling Authority: Bonuses). These are examples under Danish rules, not terms for a particular U.S. sportsbook offer.

How to track qualifying wagers and remaining turnover
Keep a running total of qualifying stake placed, excluded or voided wagers, and the remaining turnover. A bet’s stake does not necessarily count just because it was placed: eligibility can depend on the offer’s wager types, events, odds limits, and other restrictions. Reconcile your own log against the sportsbook account’s promotion or wager activity before assuming the requirement is complete.

Pennsylvania’s interactive-gaming rule provides one example of useful account-reconciliation records: a promotional account summary includes its beginning balance, awards, amounts used and expired, adjustments, and ending balance (58 Pa. Code § 813a.5). This is a Pennsylvania interactive-gaming requirement, not a universal sportsbook rule.

Compare the terms, not just the headline bonus
When deciding whether to opt into an offer, compare the terms that determine what you must do and when—not just the advertised value. Two bonuses with the same multiplier can require different turnover if the multiplier applies to different amounts, and a larger headline bonus can come with different restrictions.
Best Value
| Compare | Question to answer from the offer terms |
|---|---|
| Wagering base and multiplier | What amount is multiplied, and what total turnover does that produce? |
| Time allowed | When must you opt in, place qualifying bets, use credit, and finish wagering? |
| Eligible bets and limits | Which wagers count, and are there event, wager-type, odds, or stake restrictions? |
| Fund-use order | Are deposit funds or bonus funds wagered first? |
| Withdrawal and cancellation | What happens to the bonus or related winnings if you withdraw, cancel, or fail to meet the terms? |
Why the exact terms matter
Some jurisdictions set specific requirements for how promotions are described. Ohio Administrative Code Rule 3775-16-09(B) says promotion rules must be clear and unambiguous and include active and expiry times, rules of play, prize or award value, eligibility, wagering and redemption requirements, eligible wagers, cancellation requirements, and full, accurate, concise, transparent terms. Those are Ohio requirements; they should not be presented as the law everywhere.
Kentucky’s 809 KAR 10:002, subsection (4), says a promotion should not be described as “free or risk-free” if the patron must risk their own money to use the promotion or withdraw winnings. That is a Kentucky rule, but it also underscores a practical point for readers anywhere: read the restrictions and consider the money at risk before opting in.
Spreadsheet, calendar, or notebook?
A spreadsheet makes it easier to calculate turnover and update qualifying-bet totals; calendar reminders help surface deadlines; an ordinary notebook works for readers who prefer paper. None is required, and a log cannot guarantee that a sportsbook will count a particular wager or honor a promotion. Use the method that lets you preserve the terms and reconcile your entries against the account.
