If the option is still missing, identify the exact model and whether you mean Gemini Apps or the Gemini API; availability in one does not establish access in the other.
Where to check for models in Gemini Apps
Google says you must be signed in to switch models in Gemini Apps. On the web, go to Gemini Apps and click the model name at the bottom of the prompt box to view the available choices. In the mobile app, check the model selector in the prompt area as well.

If you use multiple Google accounts, verify that the active account is the one where you expect the model. Availability is account-specific, so checking the selector while signed into a different account can give a misleading result.
Why can’t I see the Gemini model I used before?
A missing option can have different explanations, and the name alone is not enough to identify the cause. Write down the exact model name or version and establish which product you used:

- Gemini Apps: the consumer web or mobile experience, where available model choices are shown in the prompt-box selector.
- Gemini API: the developer product, where models are accessed through documented model identifiers and endpoints.
Google’s Gemini API model documentation describes API models and endpoints; its contents do not prove that a similarly named choice is available in a Gemini Apps account.
Check whether the exact model version was retired
For an API model, look up the exact identifier in Google’s deprecation and shutdown information. Google distinguishes deprecation from shutdown; shutdown means the endpoint is turned off. The page lists model-specific lifecycle dates and, where applicable, recommended replacements. Match the full model version before choosing an alternative rather than assuming a similarly named model is equivalent.

Do not treat API lifecycle status as a definitive explanation for a model missing from Gemini Apps. These are separate product surfaces, and a listed API model is not necessarily a selectable Apps model.

Check plan display and update the app when relevant
If the issue is that a Google AI plan is not appearing in the mobile app, Google’s plan troubleshooting guidance recommends restarting the app and says the latest app version may be needed for plan features. Those steps address plan display; they do not guarantee that a particular missing model will return. A plan purchase is not a universal fix for an absent model choice.

- Sign in to the Google account where you expect the model to be available.
- Open the model name in the prompt box and inspect the choices in Gemini Apps.
- Record the exact missing model name and establish whether you mean Gemini Apps or an API endpoint.
- For an API model, check Google’s current model and lifecycle documentation for that exact version and any stated replacement.
- If a plan is missing from the mobile app, restart the app and confirm it is updated.
- If the model remains absent, check current account eligibility and availability for your region. If this is a work or school account, your administrator may control access; consult the relevant account support if needed.
Google’s general help pages do not identify the cause for an individual account. Without details such as the model name, country, account type, plan and product surface, it is not possible to determine whether the option was retired, is unavailable to that account, or is affected by another account-specific restriction.
