Why won’t my Fortnite chest open?
Start with the interaction input. Epic says custom bindings that assign Sprint and Use to the same input can cause interactions not to work. Its guidance is to restore default key binds while the issue is investigated. - Open the game menu: press Esc on PC, Options on PlayStation, Menu on Xbox, + on Switch, or on mobile open Menu and then the gear icon.
- Select the three-line menu, then choose Report and Submit a report.
- Choose A bug, then the closest reason or Other, and submit the report.
What to do if chest loot appears to be missing
Check current Fortnite status information and report what happened promptly. The official support pages cited here do not provide chest-specific steps for restoring disappeared loot or guarantee reimbursement, so do not assume the items can be recovered.

If the issue is part of a broader visual or technical problem—not just one chest—general troubleshooting may be appropriate. For console problems, Epic recommends checking for Fortnite and platform updates; its troubleshooting guidance also covers clearing the platform cache, reinstalling the game, and power cycling the console.
