A blurry toothbrush-camera image and a toothbrush that will not connect are usually different problems. For the Dyson CameraJet, first make sure the camera is uncovered and has finished starting up. For connection or Live viewing failures, check the phone permissions, Wi-Fi setup, battery level and brush-head attachment in the MyDyson app. If your toothbrush is a different model, use that model’s manual rather than assuming CameraJet procedures apply.
Identify the toothbrush and the exact failure
“Smart toothbrush camera” is not a universal product category with one troubleshooting method. The procedures below use Dyson CameraJet because its documentation describes an onboard camera, camera activation indicator and Live viewing in the MyDyson app. Check the name printed on your handle, charging equipment or app before following these steps.

Separate the symptom before changing settings. A camera can produce a poor image even when the toothbrush is correctly paired. Conversely, a perfectly clean camera cannot show a Live feed if the app lacks Bluetooth permission or the brush is below the required battery level.

Fix a blurry or obscured camera image
1. Check that nothing covers the camera
Inspect the camera opening on the handle and confirm that no packaging, toothpaste residue, water film or other material is blocking it. CameraJet’s manual specifically instructs users to ensure that the camera lens is not covered. Do not insert a pin, brush, cotton swab or other object into the opening.

The manual does not provide a special lens-cleaning recipe. It therefore does not establish that a solvent, abrasive, compressed air, disassembly or a particular cleaning tool will restore focus. Avoid those unverified treatments; they can move residue farther into the device or damage seals.
2. Clean the toothbrush using the documented routine
Use the care instructions supplied for the toothbrush rather than treating the camera as a removable phone-camera module:
- Rinse the brush head.
- Rinse the tank.
- Rinse the toothbrush’s external surfaces.
- Dry the outside of the toothbrush.
- Let the brush head dry fully between uses.
These steps remove ordinary residue from the parts the manual tells you to clean. They are not a guaranteed camera-lens cure, because the manual does not publish a dedicated blur diagnostic or lens-cleaning procedure. Do not open the handle to reach the camera.

CameraJet does not necessarily present a ready image immediately after it wakes. The manual describes the “A” symbol flashing for approximately 6–8 seconds while the camera activates. When the symbol becomes solid white, the camera is ready. Start Live viewing only after this interval has completed.

If you begin viewing during the flashing period, wait until the indicator is solid white and try again. A short startup delay is different from a persistent image-quality fault.
4. Decide when to stop troubleshooting blur
If the lens is uncovered, the documented cleaning routine is complete and the camera has reached the solid-white ready state, but the image remains consistently poor, contact Dyson support for a device diagnosis. Do not label the camera defective solely from blur; the official support flow may need additional information before it can determine whether the problem is optical, software-related or another hardware issue.
Do not attempt a guessed camera repair or disassembly. A sealed toothbrush handle contains electrical and water-resistance components that are not described as user-serviceable in the troubleshooting material.

Prepare the phone and toothbrush
CameraJet pairing has several prerequisites. Before opening the add-product flow, make sure:

- The toothbrush is awake.
- Bluetooth is turned on in the phone’s settings.
- Wi-Fi is turned on in the phone’s settings.
- MyDyson has permission to use Bluetooth.
- The phone is close to the toothbrush during pairing.
- You know the password for the Wi-Fi network that the toothbrush will use.
Bluetooth permission is separate from the Bluetooth radio switch. On a phone that asks for permission at first launch, choose the option that allows MyDyson to use Bluetooth. If permission was previously denied, open the phone’s app-permission settings, select MyDyson and enable Bluetooth access there. Menu names vary by phone software, so use the permission entry rather than searching for a second toothbrush-specific toggle.
Use the in-app pairing path
- Open MyDyson and sign in.
- Open My Products.
- Select Add Product.
- Keep the phone close to the toothbrush while the app searches.
- When prompted, press the toothbrush’s Brush intensity control.
- Choose the Wi-Fi network shown by the app.
- Enter that network’s password and complete the setup screens.
Finish the Wi-Fi setup inside MyDyson even if the phone is already connected to the same network. Pairing and the toothbrush’s own network configuration are part of the documented setup; stopping after a Bluetooth discovery screen can leave the product unable to provide its connected features.
Do not substitute a generic phone Bluetooth-menu pairing procedure from another toothbrush brand. CameraJet’s instructions use My Products, Add Product and the in-app Wi-Fi setup. A different model may use different controls, account requirements or network support.

Check the battery threshold
The manual requires more than 20% battery for Live viewing. Charge the toothbrush until it is above that level before testing the camera feed. A device can remain visible to the app while still refusing a power-intensive Live session at a lower charge.

Attach the correct brush head
Live viewing requires the genuine dual-bristle brush head specified for CameraJet. Attach it firmly; the manual says it should click into place. Remove and refit the head if it is tilted, loose or not fully seated, then try Live viewing again.
This requirement is about starting the Live feature. It does not establish that buying a new head will fix blur. Consider a genuine replacement head only when the existing required head is missing or damaged, and confirm that the part is compatible with your exact CameraJet model.
Close and reopen MyDyson if the session fails
- Exit the Live-viewing screen.
- Close MyDyson completely rather than leaving it suspended in the app switcher.
- Reopen MyDyson and sign in if requested.
- Reconnect to Live viewing after the toothbrush is awake, the battery is above 20% and the head is clicked into place.
This is the documented recovery action for a Live session that does not start. Repeating random phone Bluetooth resets before completing the app’s own reconnect path can make it harder to tell whether the problem is permission, Wi-Fi setup or the Live session itself.

The “A” symbol
During camera activation, the “A” symbol flashes for about 6–8 seconds and then turns solid white when ready. Use that state as a simple diagnostic checkpoint: flashing means activation is still in progress; solid white means the documented startup interval has completed. If the expected transition never occurs, record what the indicator does and tell support.

Connectivity while charging
CameraJet’s connectivity can be toggled while the toothbrush is charging by holding Brush intensity for four seconds. Use this control only when the toothbrush is on its charger and follow the manual’s indicator behavior to determine the resulting state. Do not infer a successful change merely because the button was held; verify the indicator and then retry the MyDyson connection flow.
Check software, market and account limitations
Connected app features can support software updates, but app functionality may vary by market. A feature shown in one country’s app or documentation may not be available in another, and phone operating-system requirements can change. Check the CameraJet documentation and MyDyson requirements for your market before concluding that a missing feature is a hardware fault.
Keep the app signed into the account used to add the toothbrush. If the product appears under a different account, use the account that originally completed My Products > Add Product or follow Dyson’s account-recovery instructions rather than repeatedly adding the same device.
Common mistakes that prolong the problem
- Cleaning the wrong way: The manual tells you to rinse the head, tank and external surfaces, dry the exterior and let the head dry. It does not authorize solvents, abrasives, probing tools or handle disassembly.
- Testing too soon: The camera’s “A” indicator may need 6–8 seconds to change from flashing to solid white.
- Ignoring permissions: Bluetooth can be enabled while MyDyson’s Bluetooth permission remains denied.
- Skipping Wi-Fi setup: Finding the toothbrush is not the same as completing its network configuration.
- Starting Live below the threshold: Live viewing requires more than 20% battery.
- Using an unverified head: Live viewing requires the genuine dual-bristle head, firmly clicked into place.
- Applying another model’s instructions: Button names, pairing flows and camera features are model-specific.
- Replacing parts to treat blur: A new brush head is not documented as a camera-focus remedy.

When to contact Dyson support
Contact Dyson support when the camera remains blurry after the lens-area check and documented cleaning routine, when the “A” symbol does not reach its ready state, or when pairing and Live viewing fail after all stated prerequisites and the reconnect procedure. Include the exact CameraJet model, phone model and operating-system version, MyDyson version if shown, indicator behavior, battery percentage, whether the genuine dual-bristle head clicks into place and the last completed setup step. That information helps support distinguish an app-permission problem from a toothbrush or camera fault.
Parts availability can change, and a support page may show a CameraJet item as unavailable at one moment and available later. Verify compatibility and current availability directly with the manufacturer before ordering anything. For these symptoms, a replacement head is relevant only when the required head is missing or damaged; it is not an established treatment for a blurry camera.
